Pregnancy after Total Thyroidectomy

Hi,

I had a Total Thyroidectomy back in January due to Graves' Disease. I'm 34 years old and I was told to only try to conceive when my levels are normal which happened in September. We were very fortunate and conceived straight away and I'm now at 12+2 with my first scan on Monday.

I upped my Levothyroxine by 25mcg as soon as I discovered I was pregnant (as advised by the endocrinologist doctor) and have been taking folic acid and vitamin d supplements.

The thing is neither my doctor or my midwife has told me how often I need to have my levels checked. I've taken it upon myself to book in once a month to get them checked. Thankfully, all is still normal. I am seeing an endocrinologist on Tuesday so will ask then.

I'm worried that my condition will affect my baby, had any else had a successful pregnancy after a Total Thyroidectomy? x
