Hi 👋🏻 I had my pfb at 36 weeks and he was5lbs he needed nicu for 10 days. He's a strapping 2yr old now - good luck it looks scary but I found the staff incredible.

If they’re over 4.5lb and otherwise well here they’ll stay in transitional care unit with mum which is part of postnatal Ward. My twins were both taken to nicu but they hadn’t other issues, and one was only 3.5lb

My baby is 4 weeks old was born at 2.07kgs which is 4lbs9oz and she didn't go to nicu! She was born at 37+3 (I was induced which failed and I ended up have a c section). At 35+4 the growth scan 4lb3 for comparison.

She was fine. My consultant antenataly had told
Me if she's over 2kg she would be treated as a normal baby afterwards which she was.

However when I arrived on ward for my induction they took one look at my notes which said she was 1st percentile and I was put in hdu. But it was a bonus! Just meant more careful monitoring and a private room! Lol

She's a greedy little money and today weighed 5lbs10!

If u have any more questions about small
Babies feel free to message me

Meant to say My baby stayed with me and was just monitored as usual afterwards. As long as their blood sugars etc are fine they stay with u I was told. My little one had a few issues with her temperature being a bit low but they just helped me through it by advising me to add layers to her! All was fine and they were v supportive. She did get jaundice which is common babies but even more so when they are small. She had 18hrs of phototherapy and was cleared. Again though she stayed with me and wasn't sent to nicu

@PrayingandHoping thanks so much! If she has grown above 5-6 they said will leave and have another in two weeks it's if she's dropped again as was on 50th centile now on 20th it's if drops again! Was yours due to dropped growth? I will have planned section as had 2 previous emcs x

@ameliathomas84 mine measured small at 20 week scan... she has small legs. The rest of her was small although not as small as her legs. It sent us spiralling into multiple consultant appointments and scans but she always stayed growing on her curve. We were booked for induction bang on 37 weeks which is considered full term and they consider it better out than in. She has thrived since birth.

@PrayingandHoping thanks again! I had lots of problems with my previous pregnancys they are now 16/11!! So it's been a while! They were born at 37 weeks and 36 week due to obstetric cholistasis and were 5-13 and 6lb so small but decent for gestation! I have all symptoms but no diagnosis this time they have been doing two weekly scans and I just feel like a can't cope with all worry I've had x3 reduced movements episodes and feel so fed up! My no went up slightly the other day and protein in irons but nothing said about it even thou o had terrible headaches few days prior! I know he wants to get me to 39 weeks but a just feel like I can't cope any more with worry of my baby and would prefer 37 week c section!

It's so stressful. And once you're In the system it feels like you just spiral. I don't think I felt calm until a week or so after I got home
