Can my dates be that wrong?

Went for an early scan today. According to my dates, I am 7 wks 4 days. Scan showed the sac and an embryo but no heartbeat and measuring at less than 6 weeks. Anyone please shed positive light on this and people who have been in similar situations but go on to have healthy happy babies?

I can't have another scan for 2 weeks. It's going to be the longest two weeks of our lives! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

@VCP88 I'm actually seeing the midwife in 30 min sites so I'm going to explain the situation and see if they'll maybe send me for another scan sooner Smile

@overanalyser1 any luck?

Hi @VCP8

Thanks for checking in. Not really much to you date you on. I had a chat with the midwife and she was so lovely and made me feel more at ease than the sonographer who had a terrible bedside manner. She said that based on the fact that my cycle ranges from 29-34 days we won't have a clue when I ovulated. My LMP started on 14/10 which would make me 7 weeks on Monday. She said we probably conceived around 30th/31st October however the only times we could have conceived were on 23rd Oct (seems very early) or 2nd Nov. I'm hoping it's purely a case of I'm just a little further behind that we thought.

She said this is why a lot of the midwives disagree with the 6 week scan (of course not if there is reason for it) as it can cause a lot of unnecessary stress and even midwives when they're pregnant themselves wait until 7.5/8 weeks if no reason to scan earlier.

Hoping and praying it all works out Smile

That's reassuring.

Shows that it's all a guessing game. My LMP was 1st October so 2 weeks before you and I'm measuring as 7 weeks today. There's still plenty of hope :)

Hi All. Just an update from me...

We had another scan (trans abdominal) yesterday and saw the tiny but strong little heartbeat. They have dated me at 7 + 1 weeks which means at the last scan I was just 5 weeks and it was simply too early to see anything. We were so relieved 😊.

Just as the worry subsided for a bit I went to the loo and when I wiped there was some fresh blood (kind of like just as your period starts). The next couple times I went to the loo, the blood was a very light brown and seems to have disappeared this morning. I've had little cramps throughout my pregnancy and they've not been any worse and there was nothing in my knickers. This literally happened 2 hours after we saw the heartbeat.

I don't know whether to call the hospital or what. Why does no one tell you how terrifying pregnancy is 🙈. What do you all think?

VCP88 · 09/12/2019 06:51

@overanalyser1

Congratulations! Very similar to my situation then! These early scans cause so much worry!

I have read many times on here that an internal scan can cause bleeding after wards. Maybe call the place that did your scan to see if that's what they say? I wouldn't worry. Blood is very common in pregnancies.

Thanks for the reply @VCP88 Hoe are you feeling?

So I had the tummy scan hence why I am worried 🙈. I'm going to ring my GP when they open. I had some light pink spotting on Wednesday last week (before scan) but thought that was maybe from the gym that morning. This spotting although still relatively light was much darker one the first wipe bag still experiencing some brown spotting when wiping now. Sorry for TMI X

Oh right! I'm surprised they tummy scanned you so early!

I'm ok thank you. Lots of nausea and sickness but I'm very lucky so I'm happy :)

How's the spotting now? Did you call the epu or the doc?
