Hi guys
I am currently on the combined pill and me and my partner had sex without use of a condom, however he pulled out. At the time I had missed a pill 2 days before however I then took 2 the next day to catch up. Then on the night of the event I also missed a pill I took 2 the next day to catch up, but I was wondering if it’s too late did I already ovulate?!

I took the morning after pill 58 hours later. I have been experiences a few pregnancy symptoms such as breast tenderness or sensitivity and increase appearance of veins on breast, however not experienced many more symptoms.
Do u reckon it’s likely I’m pregnant?

I understand that most pills mean the hormone dose can allow a bit of a buffer (friend used to work in a sexual health clinic and ex midwife) but just take a test.

It's been a while but my understanding of the pill is that you can safely miss one in a 7 day period and remain protected. I don't think taking 2 to "make up for it" works or is recommended.

The pullout method is 75% effective (I think but that's from memory) so if you missed two pills in a 7 day period I guess the chance of you being pregnant is about 25%.

Don't rely on the maths and memory of a stranger on the internet though. Go and get a test.

It totally depends on the individual. I’m pregnant with my second and both times I have fallen pregnant on the combined pill without missing any. My mum fell pregnant with my while on the pill. My sister fell pregnant with two of here while on the pill

JPharm · 18/11/2019 12:07

With combined contraceptives you usually have to miss two or more for it to affect your contraceptive cover, however if it’s in the first week of your pack as opposed to the middle then the risk is greater. If it’s from the end you can run two packs together to compensate.

Taking two the next day is not recommended and it’s pointless, it will not cover you for the missed doses.

JPharm · 18/11/2019 12:09

I will add that no contraception is 100% effective even if used correctly so if you think you may be pregnant then do a test to be sure.

Boymummy3 · 18/11/2019 12:54

Do a test its the only way to know... my sister didnt take a pill for two days then carried it on and she got pregnant. You can also get pregnant on it by not missing any as its not 100%. The pull out method is just pointless tbh. X

Thankyou @JPharm i missed my pills at the end of the pack I missed two pills in these 7 days but they where not back to back missing one on the 15 th day of cycle and the other on the 17th therefore I had a day in between which I took correctly, I also took the emergency contraceptive pill so I’m hoping this would have taken affect as well X

Thankyou @Boymummy3 I’m thinking that the pull out method isn’t the best however would be better when on the pill X

Anyone have any suggestions as to why I might be suffering from blue veins on breasts

Yes @Brianna83, however I did take emergency contraception in the form of morning after pill so could that further reduce my chance of pregnancy?

In real life the likelihood is small. On MN the likelihood is high, but the reasons are not clear. If you believe posters on MN the pill does not even merit being considered a contraceptive.

JPharm · 19/11/2019 02:48

Hi Bubble, the risk would be statistically very small for you, you’d be quite unlucky to have lost contraceptive cover and have failed emergency contraception. Do a test for piece of mind though.

The veins may be caused by hormonal changes due to the contraception.

RainMinusBow · 19/11/2019 03:15

I fell pregnant on the minipill despite taking it 100% correctly. I was 38 at the time and had been using it for contraception (except for my two planned pregnancies) since the age of 17.

I was a few days late for my period and never for one second expected I could be pg. However, my mum (ex nurse) advised me to take a test just to rule out...or not!!

Sadly the pregnancy resulted in a very early mc.

It can happen.

Brianna83 · 19/11/2019 07:51

Well yes, of course taking the morning after pill will have reduced the chance. By a great deal. However none of us can actually tell you the answer.

Go and get a test!

Caramel78 · 19/11/2019 07:53

You should set an alarm on your phone to go off at the same time every day to remind you to take it.
I think it’s unlikely you’ll be pregnant but definitely take a test soon. Would it be ok if you were or do you definitely not want to be pregnant?

Lweji · 19/11/2019 07:54

Dear god!

I hope you take better care of your baby than your contraception .
It reads like a series of unfortunate events.

Sorry for jumping on your thread, but I have a question of my own about getting pregnant on the pill and would like to read some suggestions, please. I'm currently taking Gedarel (I do it continuously for 3 months, then a 4 day break before the new pack - I've just started the 3rd pack, so no break yet). For a couple of weeks now I've felt a bit weird...a bit of nausea, extreme tiredness and sore boobs. Have had the odd cramp over the last couple of days too. Took a test on Thursday and came back negative. Just wondered how far along were you when you had a positive test, if you got pregnant on the pill? I haven't had a proper period since starting this pill, probably last year (can't remember when I started it), so I can't use a missed one as a guide. I should also say that I have 2 children (luckily got pregnant very quickly both times, I think I'm quite fertile 🙈) so I can recognise pregnancy symptoms 😬
Thanks in advance and any suggestions will be much appreciated! x

I got pregnant and didn't miss any pills.

It's always possible as not 100%
