8 weeks pregnant - sickness gone?

I’m 8 weeks pregnant tomorrow. Around 6 weeks I started really bad with morning sickness and was being sick all the time through the day. At the start of my 7th week I felt like the sickness started to wear off. I’ve still been sick this week but it’s been no where near as bad and I’ve 100% felt more human. I googled it and everything was telling me that losing morning sickness can be a sign of a missed miscarriage. I now can’t stop worrying and I don’t have a scan for another 9 days Sad.

Before the 6th week I had been sick but it was more from the period like pain I was having (which has always made me feel and Be sick when I get my period). These cramps wore off around week 5-6. I still do have other symptoms- my boobs are really sore, I can’t stop burping and certain foods literally the thought and I will gag. I just feel like actually being sick and the intense nausea I had last week has eased off??? Has anyone else had this ?

I don’t know if I’m being silly for worrying but it’s my first pregnancy and I just don’t know what’s normal.

Any advice would be great Smile

First things first, you aren't being silly for worrying. It's a really nervy time for many women and it's perfectly normal to feel this way.

However, try and look at this as rationally as you can do. Symptoms very often fluctuate in early pregnancy - that is totally normal. And you're not even losing all of yours - by your own admission you're still experiencing food aversions and sore breasts, both big signs of early pregnancy.

Try your very best to stay away from google. It is full of scary stories that you just don't need to read about. I know that's easier said than done, though.

For what it's worth, I'm currently 27 weeks pregnant and I remember feeling exactly like you at this stage. My nausea wore off and I was so worried about a MMC. Ultimately, like you, I decided to book an early scan and I have to say - I found that really reassuring as once you've seen the heartbeat your chances of a miscarriage drop pretty significantly. I calmed down significantly after that and was able to enjoy it a bit more.

I hope all that is useful. My best advice would be: be kind and compassionate to yourself (this is a really weird time), but don't let yourself spiral and go mad on google because it'll only make your anxiety around this issue worse.

In terms of practical advice - could you bring your early scan date forward? If you're already 8 weeks, you should be able to have one now. X

There is nothing silly about worrying about your baby!
I never had morning sickness as such but couldn't even see/smell or eat chicken for the majority of my pregnancy or I projectile vomited Sad
However my symptoms did the same, disappeared around 8 weeks, I was just as worried and didn't have a clue! But I just tried to stay as stress free as possible!
Unfortunately, symptoms come and go the whole pregnancy! I now have a healthy 5 month old Smile
Good luck op!

I had terrible sickness from exactly 6 weeks to exactly 8 weeks, and then nothing at all! I went for a private scan at 9 weeks as I was so worried (where I found out there was not one little heartbeat but two!!)

Try not to worry, but I would recommend a scan to put your mind at rest if you have the money. It definitely isn't always bad news Smile

Thank you so much for all your replies- makes me feel so much better knowing you have had similar and had healthy pregnancies.

I may ring and ask the scan centre if there is any way I can possibly bring the scan forward to early next week. I was just worrying (again) when I booked it because I’m 8 weeks tomorrow according to my last period but I know for sure the day I conceived was 6 weeks ago today. So for that reason am I actually 6 weeks on a scan?i know that early on you may not see as much so I was trying to wait as long as poss. I still don’t properly understand it Confused

Symptoms come and go and of course if you google most thing in pregnancy misscarriage will pop up... try not to google stuff it does make you Get anxious about things. Easier said than done but try not to worry x

QueenOfThePumpkins · 15/11/2019 18:05

It is calculated based on your last period @Jane0506qz. For the first 2 weeks of "pregnancy" you aren't actually pregnant at all! So based on what you've said, you would indeed be considered 8 weeks pregnant not 6 :)

Hi @Jane0506qz hope your ok! Just wondering how you got on with your pregnancy? I’m in a similar situation it’s mu first pregnancy and I’m 8 weeks tomorrow but my sickness seems to of disappeared so I can’t help but worry 😣 thanks X

Im so happy to have found these comments!
Im 8 weeks , i have had morning sickness right up until now and it seems to have just stopped.
I was very worried but after reading comments i think its best i just chill and go with it.

Tryingforarainbow · 28/10/2020 15:10

@Lovelife12 how are you getting on? I’m about two weeks behind you and have been feeling utterly horrific until today bang on 8 weeks was actually able to function and have a meal... and now I’m worried even though I’ve been wishing away the sicky feeling for weeks! Xx

MrsMahmood · 07/10/2021 15:17

Exact same situation and had a scan last week baby was fine and saw the heartbeat 7 weeks 2 days. So worried as had miscarriage recently and cannot afford to have scan privately on weekly basis.

Abbw9 · 07/01/2022 17:18

Really reassuring to read similar stories from you ladies. I could not get out of bed with terrible sickness from 5 weeks and now I'm 8 weeks tomorrow I can actually function like a normal person! I haven't thrown up for 2 days, I still feel mildly nauseous but hardly anything compared to earlier on.
Would love to hear update from op

saimaaa · 30/12/2022 09:30

any update ladies? i am going through the same situation

Abbw9 · 30/12/2022 12:40

My sickness lasted until around 16weeks but it got easier to live with everyday, keep earing small amounts, don't allow yourself to become hungry. Plenty of water. It eventually does pass and seems like a lifetime ago.

My son is now almost 5 months old :)
