Planning a second baby after HG

So my DD is 4 months now, she's a real joy and I love being a mum. I know at some point we would love to have a sibling for her. However my first pregnancy was horrendous, sickness throughout, I was on cyclizine until the end after I couldn't keep anything down for weeks, then later on also had SPD. The only thing that helped was quitting my job and resting. However that's not going to work with another tiny person to look after and no family nearby!
I would love to hear from others who've been through it and how you solved it. I can't imagine not being able to spend quality time with DD but I also can't imagine not having a second baby. In an ideal scenario we would love about a 2 year gap but even that seems like DD will still need a lot of care (not to mention returning to work as well) and it will just be 9 months of suffering..

Hi @evuscha, I recognise your name as we were both on the HG thread at the same time! My wee boy is 4mo now too ☺️ He is my third baby.
Best advice is to get onto medication before your symptoms even start- I did that this time after reading the advice on the PSS page and I didn’t need any hospital admissions despite feeling grim. With SPD too if you really really look after your pelvic floor you can reduce your chances of getting it again/getting it as bad. I’ll not lie to you, it was really hard second time round and third time round I think I’m too scarred to ever try again. But by way of encouragement, my oldest was 2 when my second was born, and she remembers nothing of my sickness then. She was 4 1/2 at my worst this time and she barely remembers that either. So the kids are fine!

@nighttimenope so great to hear from you, I recognize your name too Smile Congratulations on your lovely little boy! Glad to hear the kids don't remember and good idea to do a lot of planning. I've since moved to the US so will have to see how they handle it here in terms of medication.
