So I'm one who has very irregular periods, but recently about 2 weeks ago I bled lightly for a week straight. I knew it wasn't the same as my period because I could just tell. Well I use clue to atleast help me try to figure out when my next period will be and usually it's right, but it's been two days and still no period. I took a test last night & was a dark negative. This morning I took one and a very faint negative. I also feel like I see a sliver of a line going downward. Am I crazy? Or could this be a positive?

I'm really sorry but whats a dark negative and whats a very faint negative?

Do you have a photo and did this faint line appointment within 10 minutes?

@chocolatefudgecake17 scroll past if they piss you off so much.

@aaliyah927 when you say faint and dark negative was there a second line at all on any of these tests?

CL1982 · 11/11/2019 13:45

I am quite intrigued by a dark and light negative I will confess...

ChrisPrattsFace · 11/11/2019 13:53

Sorry but I agree with chocolate - explaining random negatives to internet strangers isn’t going to help. A first response pregnancy test is.

Also don’t know what a dark and light negative is to be able to help on that front....

Boymummy3 · 11/11/2019 14:05

I also dont understand what a dark or light negative is.... the test is either negative or postive.. if their is a second line its positive if their isnt then its negative. If you have irregular periods then how can anything tell you when your next period is? I have irregular period and never knew from one month to the next if i was going to get a period sometimes went months/a year without one and sometimes id have one every month for several month on end. X

I don’t think you can get strong or weak negatives! The negative is the lack of a second line. If it’s not there, it’s not there.

I’m guessing you think the mini period was implantation bleeding. The thing is, if I was you should have enough HCG to have a positive test after about a week.

It could just have been a light period?

Babyg1995 · 11/11/2019 15:53

I've never heard of this a dark negative it's either negative or positive get a digital the boots one gives you a result before your periods even due it's the only way anyone would ever know is to test again no one can tell on here good luck.

aaliyah927 · 11/11/2019 22:25

The first pregnancy test I took was just a dark blue negative. The second one I took was FAINT. light not dark like the other one. THATS the difference. It won't let me post a picture bc I'm a new user.

So from what your saying they was both negative but one was a darker negative line and the other test was a faint negative line? If this is the case then im afraid negative means not pregnant it doesnt matter how dark or light the line is x

Cookit · 12/11/2019 05:18

There is no significance in how light or dark the control line is. It doesn’t measure anything other than you’ve peed on it. It would change colour if you dipped it in water.

Personally I’d take your light period as a period and move on from that.

I know hard when your cycles are irregular but do you track them eg by temping to help identify when you ovulated this month? - then to know when you are late etc.

MarshmallowsOnToast · 12/11/2019 05:54

Which brand of tests show a negative line?

Never heard of that. As pp says negative usually means no second line at all.

farmmumtomillie · 12/11/2019 06:57

@aaliyah927 did the tests have ONE or TWO lines on them? What brand did you use?
Did you read the instructions?

ChrisPrattsFace · 12/11/2019 08:45

One light is negative no matter what shade.
Two lines is positive no matter what shade.

OrangeHue · 12/11/2019 15:59

Read the instructions.
