Pramsuits?

Hi all

I'm due in early Feb with my first and I have to say the world of pramsuits is completely alien to me.

Should I buy one for newborn for leaving hospital etc? And then one for when he is a bit bigger or just one suitable up to 3 months straight away and not bother with one for a newborn?

Thank you

We walked a lot and used the pram suit almost every day last winter. Loved her in it and so easy to undo quietly if she fell asleep before we got back.

I find them more useful when they are slightly older - sitting in a pushchair or fiddling about, when they are tiny you can layer up blankets and cardigans in the carrycot/pram/car seat. I love the waterproof, fleece lined suits from jojo maman bebe, they are a bit pricy but they keep the baby/toddler totally dry and toasty warm and they keep looking good for ages - I've known them to be passed down through four children.

Hi, I’ve had a January baby and a may baby so different ages in cold weather. IMO small babies under 3months don’t need them as you can put a hat and blankets on them and this makes it easier if transferring to a car or if you come inside and want to take layers off without waking them. Older babies need them as they will kick off blankets. As you are due in Feb you might get away with not needing one till next winter... my January baby didn’t have one till the following October

Just repeating what's been said but I wouldn't bother unless you are out on public transport loads, I never used mine as wasn't convenient putting it on and off for the car seat

Thanks, seems like general consensus is definitely not needed for a newborn and will be in the car more often than out and about on public transport

I recently found this article on pramsuits, which I found so helpful, as they are alien to me too! hope it helps.
