Due date, no baby...

Hi everyone

Today is my due date, and I'm in so much disbelief that I don't have my baby yet, I had this feeling my whole pregnancy I'd go early (not super early...but even a little bit)

Anyway, I had a membrane sweep on Wednesday and from then I've had my bloody show, so something is happening down there, but apart from that I don't feel any different. I've had cramps that come and go but nothing I could call a 'contraction'. I tried absolutely everything from I was 37 weeks... evening primrose, clary sage oil, raspberry leaf tea, caulophyllum, nipple stimulation DAILY, and not a dickie bird.

So anyway, what are you ladies experiences of having your bloody show and when did labour follow? Do you reckon I've long to go? I'm in again next Wednesday for another sweep if I haven't went by then and then they'll discuss induction but I could honestly break down at the thought of any of that...it's been the longest 9 months of my life and I just want to meet my girl Confused

Thank you all in advance xx

I was 10 days late and didn't have my bloody show until 6 hours before LO was born (after 3 days of contractions). My waters broke about 2 hours before she arrived.

She'll come when she's ready!

The show just means that your cervix has started to dilate . It isn't really an indicator that anything will happen soon. The only real indicator is contractions, regular and getting stronger every time. I went over by 2 weeks both times, so I do know how frustrating it is !

Your not suppose to use clary sage oil except in labour! I did use it early too but I so desperately wanted to avoid a c section.

Try acupuncture and just spend all your time bouncing on birthing ball. Plan a big important day out, maybe a wedding, that did the trick for me.

Ultimately unless there is a health reason you don’t want the baby

My first was 5 days overdue I had a sweep Tuesday 3pm instant backache, contractions, had show and also waters broke that night but my dd didn't come until 6pm Thursday and I had to go on IV antibiotics as there had been 'a window on the baby' for so long. Even then I had to have episiotomy as she was born face up! Worth it though!!

My first, I had a sweep on the Wednesday, my bloody show arrived on the Friday and I had my wee girl on the Monday morning, she was 8 days overdue.

Hopefully things start to kick off for you soon!

Dd was 3 weeks late

Never had a bloody show with either of my two. Well, I did, kind of, with DS, but by that time I was pretty much 10 cm dilated. With him, my waters broke just before I had him. With DD, my waters were broken for me, so that doesn't count.

Never had any cramping either, or any real activity (incl. on the ctg, which my ob seemed frustrated about) apart from a few days before DS, but it wasn't really uncomfortable or noticeable. I'm a woman who does things the proper way, so when I start on something I have to finish it. So no on and off stuff. 😂

I did do the raspberry leaf tea, but the dose is about 1l a day, so one measly cup won't do anything.

With my 2nd I had a sweep around 38 weeks... he was 1 day late. I never seen my bloody show and waters only went once in hospital in established labour. I'm afraid know one can really tell you how long its going to take I suppose she will come when shes ready xx

Easy for me to say now and if anyone said it to me 3 days past due date I would've wanted to punch them however, as soon as I stopped obsessing over drinking my weight in raspberry leaf tea while bouncing on a ball and walking every hill within a mile of my home, I went into labour. I was so deflated going 'overdue' as I had my first on my due date and heard alllll about second children coming sooner. I became so anxious and obsessive over how to start it then I just gave up, relaxed, and sure enough things progressed. I had no show and waters broke as I was pushing at 10cm, so there may be no signs. I do hope it's soon for you but give yourself a break

With my first I had a ctg on the Friday. There was no signs of contractions and baby was not even slightly engaged. I felt absolutely fine but waters broke spontaneouslythat night with contractions starting two hours later and dd was born 18 hours later. I don't remember a bloody show until I was in hospital just before pushing
