Getting a new one started before we are full! I’ll go back now and add people - answering everyone’s last posts here!!

@MrsR16 Nesting sounds like a good idea! Our house is such a mess at the moment mid-decorating and I cant wait for it all to be done so I can tidy!!

@BabySquid Fabulous bump! Glad you had such a brilliant time. I’m starting to think that pain sleeping is all just part and parcel of being pregnant now! At my yoga class everyone complains of it!

@Tropicana1 I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about!

@purplefig Yeah it was amazing to hear! Apparently IVF twins are more likely to be small but she never explained why. But yeah, induction is less likely for growth - it could still be needed for other reasons but it’s nice to have one of them off the list! How are you feeling, sleeping any better?

@ELW85 I did sleep a little bit better! I still woke up about 4:30 but slept all the way from 10 til then which is amazing! I feel like I’m slowly getting used to just being tired now! Glad you managed a better sleep!

@PippaPug Glad you got the radiator sorted! Yeah I’m amazed at how care changes from place to place but I think the main thing is as long as someone is seeing us at least once a month then that’s great!! How have you been feeling? I’m 24+4 today and really starting to feel uncomfortable now. My bump measured approx 32 weeks yesterday!! 32!!! She thinks they must be lying all at the front.

@cupcakesandglitter From doing some googling I think at the 28 week appt they’ll more start telling me what I can and can’t do in the birth - like start laying out all of my options? So I’m not gonna worry too much and wait to see what they say! My only ‘preference’ is everyone arrives happy and healthy and all are safe and well! I love the bong haha - how are you feeling today?

@ELW85 just popped on to say I'm so chuffed for you ❤️ what a lovely feeling, huge weight off xxx

MrsEG · 06/01/2020 21:25

@purplefig That’s a fab link - I wouldn’t have even thought of freezing soup! I’m obsessed with soup at the mo mainly for the excuse to dip in so much bread I’m sure I have some Mason jars buried in a cupboard somewhere I could use too.

@ELW85 wonderful news - 50th centile is perfect! The cramps are more twinges and they come and go (as in I maybe feel 3 a day) but I’m getting pain in my back now too and I honestly think it’s the weight of my bump/the babies now. It’s SO bad first thing/trying to sleep, eases off during the day and then comes back at night!
Hope the meeting goes well - is it for flexible working before you go off, or discussing the return to work? I mentioned before I left I didn’t think I’d be able to do more than 3 days a week when I came back and was terrified to say so but they couldn’t have been more understanding. Hope your meeting goes just as well!

Morning ladies 😊 hope you're all doing well.

@MrsEG oh I hadn't realised you could hire some from the hospital at first, may ask midwife about that at my appointment on Thursday.
I don't think it's selfish for you to finally want the babies here, especially with all the pain you have been experiencing. I hope the physio can offer some useful tips over the phone!

@purplefig I think any sort of outing or walking is definitely an achievement, especially when all you want to do is curl up and sleep, so good on you 😊
I hope you do manage to find some bargains when you go! I think I may do similar to you and leave all the feeding stuff for now to see how we got on. As my colleague said to me yesterday, with amazon prime and big 24hour supermarkets, we can get something pretty quickly if need be!

@Lemonysherbet so happy to hear all is okay with you and baby! I hope you're aren't too sore this morning.

@LikeTheFruit ahh so happy that the GP signed you off for reduced hours. The cheek of them to still ask if you can work the weekend though! Definitely glad you you stood your ground.
Ah you still have time to go get your bits, especially since you know what you want. Hope kitchen gets completed soon!
Hope you finally had a decent sleep 😊

@ELW85 so so happy that little bubba is okay, 50th percentile is brilliant 😊 I'm sure it must been have so lovely seeing him again!
What sterilisation kit have you gone for?
Sounds like you had a very relaxing evening after your appointment, which I'm glad to hear. It's nice that you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy now 😁

So I'm 25 weeks today! After the scares before Christmas, I've been really enjoying the pregnancy the last few weeks (apart from the lack of sleep 🙈). It's been amazing feeling her move so much! 🥰

Hope you all have a lovely day xx

purplefig · 07/01/2020 09:26

@MrsEG I imagine soup would be quite good postpartum too as you can bulk them right up and full of nutrients! And as you say, basically an excuse to eat a loaf. I'd probably freeze them flat in those freezable soup pouch things to save room, but probably not an issue with your extra chest freezer Grin

@LokiCat Haha thanks, I am learning to celebrate the seemingly smallest of achievements these days. At 8 months pregnant, climbing up the stairs is worthy of a victory dance Grin. Your colleague makes a good point about prime/supermarkets - definitely no need to rush. Really glad to hear you've been able to enjoy pregnancy a bit more lately - I loved it when they started moving more, it makes it feel so real.

I don't know whether it's because I've made the decision to stop next week, but I am suddenly finding work so, so hard. I've been using my standing desk to help my back pain for weeks now, but all of a sudden it requires monumental effort to stand at. Bring on Friday Grin

Have a good one all! x

ELW85 · 07/01/2020 09:53

Morning all

Thanks for all of your lovely words! Can’t tell you how happy we are that he’s fine and on track to be 7/8 lbs!

We've booked a week off together and are going back to our wedding venue to celebrate an early anniversary! It’s going to be lovely to have some time together before the little one arrives 😊

@MrsEG - I’m discussing the pattern I want to return to. I wanted compressed hours but they won’t support it (I already work them so they just don’t want to give me the time back) so I have no idea where I’ll end up.

@LokiCat - we’ve gone for the Tommy Tippee complete feeding kit. It’s a bit of a shot in the dark but it looks like it does everything!

@purplefig - I’m starting to think you’re right about the stoping work early. I’ve been awake since 4am and I can’t function.
Thank you so much for thinking of me and checking in xx

MrsEG · 07/01/2020 10:09

Morning gang!
How is everyone getting on with names for babies? We’ve had two names pretty much set in stone since 20 weeks and in a total about turn we’ve changed our minds on both at the last minute 🙈 I don’t know what to think now!! DH is saying let’s just wait to see them and see which names suit?

@LokiCat Yeah, I actually heard about the Medela pumps when the hospital told me you can hire them. I think in my area it’s about £15 a month so much cheaper than buying something new if it isn’t going to work out! One of the twin mums I have met said she only ever rented; she just hired the pump for about 5 months and then stopped pumping after that. Definitely worth asking about! I find the idea of feeding quite daunting, especially those early months (and especially with two!) so I’m just really hoping these babes will take a bottle of expressed milk so someone else can help me out!

@purplefig I live a 3 min walk from a big Lidl that has a huge bakery onsite so I basically am bread at this point, I think I’ve been their most loyal customer during this pregnancy!! All over some soup recipes for this week!
That final countdown just zaps you of all energy I found - in my last few days I basically just ‘busied’ myself and clock watched until it was time to shut down!

@ELW85 That sounds like a great holiday! Is your company quite good or not with flexible working usually? I am quite lucky in that my work are great with it - it’s the saving grace to getting such pants mat pay that I know my flexi working won’t be a problem on my return. I do worry how I’ll do the job over 3 days and not 5; but that’s a worry for next year!! Just stick to your guns and really push for what you need - flex working is 100% the future!!

OP posts:
cupcakesandglitter · 07/01/2020 10:53

@mrseg I'm good thankyou ☺️ has an awful nights sleep but little one was awake pretty much all through it so silver lining I guess. I also really want to pop into Lidl now, everything is amazing 🤤 re names, we've had ours since we found out she's a girl but haven't told anyone on the off chance we change our mind nearer the time 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

@purplefig I'm good thankyou 😊 sorry to hear about your back pain but only three more days to go!!!

@Lemonysherbert glad everything is okay after your fall! X

Ahhh @elw85 I knew it!! I'm so happy for you, glad everything is okay 😊 your getaway sounds lovely too, what a lovely way to celebrate 🥰 x

I'm a little annoyed today - more than likely due to the lack of sleep - but I called my local centre where antenatal classes are being held, to ask if I can be added to the feb list. All seemed fine UNTIL I was asked who my midwife is. My GP is in a different area and so my local community MW is registered for a different hospital that I am adamant I don't want to give birth in. At no point did anyone tell me this would be an issue for me considering I live about three minutes away from the hospital I'll be in! The lady on the phone said people who are with the MW for this hospital get priority so I may have to go to antenatal classes at the other hospital 😞 if I'd have known I would've changed GP ages ago - I don't mind the travel but I really wanted to meet people in my area who are at the same stage as me, I have no mom friends at all and feel pretty lonely being pregnant. Waiting for a call back with the answer today 😓

ELW85 · 07/01/2020 11:27

Quick question all - I’ve been put on a 3 hour workshop in Glasgow next week...starting at 8.30am. I really didn’t want to do any overnighters at this stage in my pregnancy but my boss isn’t budging.
Am I being unreasonable in not wanting to go?

@MrsEG - we’ve decided on Finlay Alexander. We were torn between Finlay and Arthur for ages, but seemed to be leaning more towards Finlay, so just decided to stick with it.
I’ll see what Friday’s conversation brings but I work for a company that are meant to be super flexible and pioneer odd working patterns...just not in my department apparently, when it suits them.

@cupcakesandglitter - thank you my dear! So sorry that you’re feeling crappy today. I must say we haven’t experienced that with our classes. The community midwife is in a different area to the hospital we’re having him in, and our classes are at the hospital. Seems odd, unless they’re full? Fingers crossed you get it all sorted! X

PippaPug · 07/01/2020 15:03

I wrote such a long reply and then it all disappeared 😩😩

Thank you to everyone who reassured me about C sections I have tried to take it all on aboard and I had my last NCT last night and we spoke about C sections and I’m feeling a bit happier about it.

We played a “game” where we got to chose our ideal birth - home/hospital, natural birth/c section, long labour/short labour, epidural/no epidural, partner there/ no partner there etc - had to turn 3 situations over each time and say how we felt about it....and I realised the only thing that matters to me that my DH is there by my side - so I’m trying to focus on that instead....everything else is a bonus.

Thank you to everyone who listened to me 💐💐💐💐💐

How’s everyone doing?

RE names - We are 100% set on girls however boys we are still unsure about - we are keep going round in circles, we are wanting traditional names more though I think!

PippaPug · 07/01/2020 15:05

Also - to anyone who has packed Thierry hospital bad - anything you have packed which you may not think off?! I think I have everything....but you never know 😂

MrsEG · 07/01/2020 15:54

@cupcakesandglitter I am obsessed with Lidl’s bakery! I need to calm down with it to be honest now I’m so sedentary at home haha! Oh what a pain about the classes - could you just ask to have yours at your chosen hospital? To be honest my area is quite similar - the hospital we have chosen to have the babies isn’t the same one attached to our GP/community midwife so all my physio appts have been at another hospital which is a pain.

@ELW85 That’s such a pain - could anyone else do it; is there anyone you can approach in the office to do it instead? Annoying about the flex working request as well - could you use the fact they are supposed to be pioneering this type of working in your argument? I hope it all goes well for you!

@PippaPug Glad you’re feeling better about everything! Sounds like a fab last NCT class.
I’ve got mine packed - one thing out of the ordinary for me was peppermint oil capsules which are an apparent godsend if you end up having a c-section for digestion post-op, I got them cheap on Amazon. Also a small hand held fan for the oh so hot wards!

OP posts:
purplefig · 07/01/2020 15:56

@PippaPug glad you're feeling better about the possibility of a c-section. Re: hospital bags, some things I'm packing that might be easily overlooked / not important to lots of people Grin: phone charger, essential oil room spray and LED tea lights, water bottle with in-built straw, eye mask and ear plus in case I'm in longer, pillow to sit on on the way home....and a flannel as I know a few midwives and they all said women love a cool flannel in labour Grin.

@ELW85 urghh I would not fancy a 3 hour workshop starting at 8.30am. I don't think you're being unreasonable in no wanting to go, but I'm not sure what you can do about it if travel is in your contract and you haven't formally agreed to nix overnighters and they won't budge? Your workplace sound a triffle unhelpful to pregnant women!!! Re: finishing work early, I become more and more happy with the decision as each day passes hahaa. Oh and I LOVE the name Finlay (and Alexander actually).

@cupcakesandglitter oh that's so frustrating, I hope they are able to sort it out for you. I don't see why they couldn't really? Fingers crossed.

@MrsEG morning! Oh man, I'd be over that fresh bakery section like a rash if Lidl was that close. We've got an Aldi pretty close, but no fresh bread. Maybe it's for that best! Glad it's not just me feeling totally zapped...getting my work done this afternoon has been a real effort. Luckily I'm done now and going to chill and do nothing for an hour or so. Dinner in the slow cooker - thank you morning me Grin. Funny you mentioned names - I just had that exact wobble last night. Tempted to get the baby name book out again...

I haven't struggled with heartburn at all so far, but at 35 weeks it's just starting to rear it's ugly head. At that horrid stage where I get really hungry, but then I start eating and there is no room. Talking to DH last night I said the thing I'm looking forward to after birth isn't a glass of wine but in fact being able to take a deep, full lungful of breath in!! x

Larrydavid · 07/01/2020 17:01

@ELW85 - I'm so glad your little man is measuring at the right size and everything is ok! I'm also happy to hear the midwife in question is being given additional training. Not cool for her to act like a penis towards a pregnant woman! 🙅🏻‍♀️ Also, think your boss is being unreasonable- it's not difficult to make allowances for people and frankly, as a manager, it's what you're paid to do. No idea if there's anything you can do about it but that type of inflexibility is so ridiculously unhelpful. On a happier note: love the names you've picked!

@cupcakesandglitter fingers crossed you get to do the class at the hospital nearest you! Keep us posted. Love your nursery ❤️

@PippaPug I find girls names fairly easy and yet boys names seem so hard to settle on! We are leaning towards more traditional names for a boy and less traditional for a girl.

@MrsEG maybe it will be easier to pick names when you see their little faces! It feels like such a huge decision, doesn't it! Picking one feels like a nightmare, not sure I'd be able to come up with two!

@LokiCat my friend is kindly giving me her pump and we bought some bottles. Figured we'd need bottles whether breastfeeding goes well or not. Loads of people have suggested a bucket and Milton tablets over sterilizers. We're just buying bits and pieces we find in the sales at the mo otherwise I'm going to leave it for a month or two.

@Lemonysherbet glad you're ok! That must have been a shock! And regarding your earlier post, I think I was the last pregnant person from the other thread! Hopefully more ladies will get good news really soon.

@LikeTheFruit your bump looks amazing! Nice to see you back. Good luck with your interview and hope you make it to those nct classes!

Hey guys! Hope you're all well. I feel a bit crazy this week. I have a cold, haven't slept well and I think I'm a bit nervous about the scan I have on Friday (which is to determine whether I'm high risk of premature birth). Whenever something is out of my control, I end up focusing on all small silly things and get myself wound up by them. My friend and her partner were lodging in our house (they were there for a few months last year, then went traveling for six months and left their things at ours and then rented from us for three months and moved out last weekend) - I was happy to have them but was also happy to get our space back and get the nursery sorted but they've left a couple of bits of bulky furniture and it's all I can think about. I asked them today if they could get it moved on and now feel well and truly like I've lost the plot. As annoying the furniture is, it wouldn't normally bother me. Worried I've upset them and come across a bit unhinged. Had a bath and went for a walk and feel slightly better. Would really like the magical second trimester energy and mood to kick in soon.

Anyway, sorry for the moan but the hormones, cold and lack of sleep are not working so well for me this week! In better news, we bought nursery furniture in the sale and it's lovely. Hope you're all well x

LokiCat · 07/01/2020 18:52

@purplefig I think also that feeling of having her around with me everywhere just feels amazing 🥰
Ahh it's probably because you know it's close to the end of work for you! I hope the last few days flyby.
With you on the breathlessness btw! There's some days where I'd love nothing kore than to be able to take a deep, calming breath.

@ELW85 I think DH mentioned that one his friends recommended the Tommy Tippee one; their products generally have good reviews.
Ah your week off together sounds like it'll be so lovely! Amazing way to celebrate.
I don't think you're being unreasonable at all to not want to go. I'm doing one more training week away at the end of Jan and then have requested that I don't do anymore, as it gets so tiring! Is there anyone else that could take your place?

@MrsEG we had names for a boy and girl picked out pretty early on and have been referring to her by the name we've picked. A part of me is worried that when she's here, I'll see her and think the name doesn't suit. It may be easier when are here to think of names that fit.
Re feeding, I'm pretty worried about how it's all going to go as well and whether I'd be able to get the hang of it, but have said to DH that I won't stress myself if I can't do it, which he is supportive about as well. I've booked myself in for a breastfeeding workshop at 32 weeks, so hopefully will get some useful tips!
Hopefully your boys will take to the bottle quickly. Are you adamant to go with breastfeeding or happy to switch to formula if need be?

@cupcakesandglitter oh that's frustrating about the antenatal classes. For us, as long as you are registered to give girth at the hospital then we can attend the classes. I hope they have spaces available!
Re meeting local mums - have you heard of Peanut? I signed up to it last week, as even though I have a few friends that are mums/pregnant currently, they all live quite far. It's sort of like Tinder (as in you swipe to 'connect') but you can meet other mums/mums to be that are at a similar stage to you that live locally. There's also local groups you can join. Ours met up before Xmas at a local Costa. I've spoken to a few ladies, just need to pluck up the courage to say 'let's meet' 😂

@PippaPug I'm so happy to hear that the NCT class was useful in helping you feel better about a C section.
I haven't thought about birth bag yet, but I did save two lists on my Notes that people shared on here when I was quite early on. I can share that if anyone wants!

@Larrydavid from the discussions I've had with DH, plus my colleagues who recommended them, I think we will end up using Milton tablets and a bucket. It seems a lot easier from what I've been hearing!
It's completely understandable that you are frustrated about the bulky furniture that your friends have left behind, especially if you are trying to get things set up for the nursery. I'm sure they understand as well! I'm glad the bath and walk helped you feel better though.

Ladies, do you talk to your bump much? My midwife asked me at my last appointment and mentioned that it's good for brain development.. I sing a lot whilst massaging my bump or when she's kicking/moving a lot, but I feel a bit silly having conversations out loud with it (her?)... I don't know if it's only me though. I tried last night, but because she wasn't moving I just felt like I was talking to myself 🙈😂

Larrydavid · 07/01/2020 20:15

@LokiCat I talk to my dog all the time - I'm kind of hoping the baby just assumes I'm talking to him/her!

MrsEG · 07/01/2020 23:28

@purplefig Hope you enjoyed the slow cooker dinner! I’m so glad it’s not just me having a last minute name wobble - it’s all me and DH bloody talk about now haha! I’m super breathless all the time too, I find sitting very upright helps a little bit - if I lean back I’m done for! It’s much much worse when the babies push their heads upwards - my midwife said it’s super common in late pregnancy as the babies can tuck under your ribs when stretching out so they lie on your diaphragm! Do you ever notice the breathlessness is worse when baby is moving about?

@Larrydavid Getting two names to ‘match’ and work together has been one of the hardest bits to be honest! I hope your scan on Friday goes well - keep us all posted. And also, I’d be the same as you about the furniture so I wouldn’t worry about that at all!! I’d be marching them over to get rid! My dad is a nightmare for leaving things at our house when he’s been round helping decorate - and like, I’m talking ladders just left in the kitchen, loads of tools that I’m tripping over - it drives me up the wall. With babies on the way that nesting instinct is real and you just want things clear and tidy!!

@LokiCat We went to a BF workshop and really enjoyed it - the teacher tailored parts of it for twins too which was really good. It sounds very intense in the early weeks/months I have to say - I left feeling really overwhelmed! But then I guess that’s what mat leave is for - Hence why I’m storing so many box sets haha! We plan to combi feed so introduce bottles early on so they get used to them early (my niece was a complete bottle refuser but they didn’t try one with her until 12 weeks and some have suggested that was too late) but I do really want to just BF and express at first, and only use formula for top-ups if I have to. I have nothing against formula whatsoever and my main reason is to keep costs down haha!
Re: talking to bump, yeah I can’t do it either!! DH does - he has this ‘hilarious’ routine of shouting in to my vagina as he thinks the babies will hear him better........ I find talking to my bump a bit weird but I figure they must hear me as I’m talking all throughout the day! I have started playing some music to bump though :)

Got my growth scan tomorrow so sat wide awake with my usual scanxiety! I have so many questions for the consultant tomorrow too. Nerves about delivery are really kicking in at the moment.

Glad to hear it’s not just me who is having name wobbles as well!! I think the main issue we are having is the two names we like most are really traditional Irish names (DH is Irish, my dad is as are mums family, huge Irish family - so the names are ‘normal’ to us) but the worry is about spelling and pronunciation in Manchester. But I’m sure people would get used to it quickly enough. I lived three decades with an Irish surname no one could ever pronounce and it did me no harm!

OP posts:
purplefig · 08/01/2020 09:39

@Larrydavid Give yourself some grace, you said yourself you have been suffering with a cold and poor sleep this week plus you're worrying about the scan. In addition to that, you are aware you might have reacted slightly out of character with your friend so I'm sure she'll understand. And tbh, the bulk furniture does need to go so hopefully it'll give them a kick up the bum! In my experience the second trimester was when I felt my best (nausea subsided and I wasn't navigating life with a huge bump!), but I wouldn't say I had bags of energy. At the end of the day, you're still growing a brand new human being which takes a lot of effort (that's my solid excuse for naps at least).

@LokiCat I don't talk a great deal to my bump. I'll make the odd remark or when he or she kicks I'll sometimes speak, but mostly I just rub my belly. I work from home so I'm constantly chatting shit to the pets and singing (poor child), so hopefully it still gets lot of stimulation.

@MrsEG I love my slow cooker. I need to get a bigger one really Grin. It's just so easy to chuck everything in and at the end of the day it's like someone has lovingly prepared you a home cooked meal. And the house smells amazing! Re: names, although it's good to have an idea I keep reminding myself it doesn't need to be done immediately. Think you get 6 weeks before you have to register them. Babies tucking under the ribs sounds incredibly painful!! Mine is head down, so it's likely just legs, but even that is enough to make me gasp out loud sometimes. All the best for your scan today - what time is it? I'm sure it'll be fine, but I know scanxiety is bloody horrid.

Two of the ladies in my NCT group have had their babies since our coffee morning at the weekend! It's made it feel even more real now. Eeeeek x

TrashKitten10 · 08/01/2020 10:53

@Larrydavid @LokiCat We use Milton tablets after returning our tommee tippee steam steriliser for being utterly useless. Sometimes it sterilised for 30 seconds, sometimes 10 minutes (was supposed to be about 5 minutes). Cold water sterilising is so much easier! We did use a big bowl but everything floats to the top and I couldn't find the perfect implement to keep them weighted down. I ended up buying the Milton steriliser thing from amazon which is a big tub with a weighted 'shelf' that holds everything under the water. It has a marker for 5 litres as well which is the amount of water you need for one Milton tablet so no measuring out either. It was about £12/13 but one of our best purchases :)

TrashKitten10 · 08/01/2020 10:56

Milton Cold Water Steriliser (White) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001RYOPAE/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_7tBfEb2J4AEZB

Less than a tenner in fact :)

TrashKitten10 · 08/01/2020 11:01

Sorry for the third post but just remembered how I sat in the passenger seat for a 1hr journey with that thing clamped between my legs, full of water, because we were going away for the night and DH was worried Daisy might not react well to unfamiliar water in her steriliser 😂 We were staying in the same county, not visiting sub Saharan Africa. Bless him and his PFB tendencies 🙈

purplefig · 08/01/2020 11:16

@MrsEG oh also - did you end up finding out what those cramps were by the way?

The last week or so I've been getting very on and off mild period like cramping. I'm pretty certain they're not Braxton Hicks, as my stomach doesn't tighten or anything. Instead it feels exactly like super mild period pain that wouldn't warrant any pain relief.

MrsEG · 08/01/2020 11:42

@purplefig Yeah it is 6 weeks to register, so you can sort of ‘live with’ the names for a bit and make sure everyone’s happy! I asked about the cramps today and the consultant told me not to worry - at this stage in pregnancy it’s all down to general discomfort and the fact that all babies are doing is growing and growing - it’s kind of like late stage ligament pain. She said if you have a contraction you’ll know about it and it will feel painful, so I felt quite reassured by that!

Growth scan went really really well but oh boy do I have some bruisers in there - twin 1 is now 5lb 10oz at 33+3!!! Twin 2 is bang on 5lb but just a 12% difference between them so no concerns at all there with him being smaller, and everything else looked fine. Twin 1 is still breech and the consultant said at this point now he’s very unlikely to shift so they have booked my c-section for 4 Feb when I’ll be 37+2!! I got choked up when she booked it, in less than 4 weeks no matter what these babies are going to be here!
I have one more growth scan in 3 weeks before hand and other than that I just have to keep an eye out for labour signs such as painful cramps/contractions and waters breaking. But I’ll be committing myself now to keeping them cozy in there until the 4th!

@TrashKitten10 Thanks for the steriliser info! We got one quite cheap from Mam but will save that link in case it ends up being hopeless!

OP posts:
purplefig · 08/01/2020 11:54

@MrsEG oh my god what excellently sized babes you've got in there - that's incredible! No wonder you're feeling a bit squashed though Grin. How amazing to think they're going to be here in less than a month, for sure. I'm so excited for you. So glad everything went well and you can relax for a while now. Thanks for the note about cramping too - I did have a little google which seemed to suggest the same thing really, it's just everything stretching out and getting ready. Quite exciting in it's own way!

MrsEG · 08/01/2020 15:37

@purplefig It feels quite overwhelming in some ways to have an exact date! But I feel so reassured by the consultant that, in the positions they’re in, this is absolutely the right and safest thing to do. They’re in such an odd position - twin 1 is super low down but breech (she had the Doppler basically in my pubes to try and get his legs measured) whereas twin 2 is much higher up, legs up top but is sort of curled in to a ball so his head is right next to Twin 1s. They’re like a yin and yang symbol! The sonographer actually had to draw a little diagram for the consultant as she was struggling to write it down!
It is so exciting to think your body is readying itself for a) that final growth spurt and b) delivery isn’t it! I hope the cramps aren’t too bad for you. I was saying today that I jump out of my skin at every little twinge and she said everyone does, twins or not - those last few weeks are such an anxious wait!

Evening all!

I got work to compromise and have the session at 9am so I’ll be able to get the train at 6.22 and be half an hour late for it, but that’s better than an over night stay!

And thank you all for your lovely words on the name we’ve picked. I’m so excited to meet him now, it’s incredible!

@MrsEG - I’ve got my work chat on Friday so fingers crossed for me! I think the Irish names will be beautiful. I love traditional names or names that lean towards heritage: I’m sure that they’ll be picked up by everyone just fine.
Congratulations on the growth scan and getting a date for your c-section! It’s so, so exciting 😊 has it sunk in yet?
Also, sometimes it feels like little one is kicking me in the cervix, so it’s kind of reassuring that they used the Doppler that low on you too, haha!

@PippaPug - it’s great that you’re feeling better about the birth options, that game sounds like it’s really helped you.

@purplefig - how are you feeling? I hope the cramps are easing up.
Wow, I can’t believe two women from your NCT have had their babies! It really does make it all real, doesn’t it?

@Larrydavid - honestly, you’re doing wonderfully and are more than entitled to having your moments or feeling overwhelmed or emotional.
We’re going through huge changes and it’s not just a big adjustment with our bodies, but our lives overall and that’s going to take a lot of getting used to!

@LokiCat - I do talk to bump (and sing to him), but I wouldn’t say I do it loads every day. Probably once a day though? As everyone has said, I’m not sure how they’d know when you’re directing your voice at them so I’m sure hearing you in general conversation is enough 😊

I hope everyone has had a great evening?
The Head of Midwifery didn’t call me so I’ll be on the phone tomorrow to make sure I have a new one!
