Getting a new one started before we are full! I’ll go back now and add people - answering everyone’s last posts here!!

@MrsR16 Nesting sounds like a good idea! Our house is such a mess at the moment mid-decorating and I cant wait for it all to be done so I can tidy!!

@BabySquid Fabulous bump! Glad you had such a brilliant time. I’m starting to think that pain sleeping is all just part and parcel of being pregnant now! At my yoga class everyone complains of it!

@Tropicana1 I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about!

@purplefig Yeah it was amazing to hear! Apparently IVF twins are more likely to be small but she never explained why. But yeah, induction is less likely for growth - it could still be needed for other reasons but it’s nice to have one of them off the list! How are you feeling, sleeping any better?

@ELW85 I did sleep a little bit better! I still woke up about 4:30 but slept all the way from 10 til then which is amazing! I feel like I’m slowly getting used to just being tired now! Glad you managed a better sleep!

@PippaPug Glad you got the radiator sorted! Yeah I’m amazed at how care changes from place to place but I think the main thing is as long as someone is seeing us at least once a month then that’s great!! How have you been feeling? I’m 24+4 today and really starting to feel uncomfortable now. My bump measured approx 32 weeks yesterday!! 32!!! She thinks they must be lying all at the front.

@cupcakesandglitter From doing some googling I think at the 28 week appt they’ll more start telling me what I can and can’t do in the birth - like start laying out all of my options? So I’m not gonna worry too much and wait to see what they say! My only ‘preference’ is everyone arrives happy and healthy and all are safe and well! I love the bong haha - how are you feeling today?

@MrsH497 if I recall I think mine specifically said don't drink too much? Should say on your hospital letter. I certainly don't remember being bursting!! Mine actually sent me out for a wee half way through though 🤣

stormtrooperjulian · 29/12/2019 17:55

@EltzBee Congratulations! She's beautiful

@MrsEG oh wow your poor ankles, that must be so uncomfortable. Not long to go now and it will all be worth it in the end

@MrsH497 the ballet sounds amazing, I'm very jealous

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. I can't really believe that i have a 3 month old already

@Tropicana1 Oh that’s so great that the dogs are doing so well! Your dogs are gorgeous by the way; we have a husky cross! I’ve been told to get my hands on some nipple shields too; which ones did you go for?

@EltzBee congrats she is beautiful! How have the first few months of motherhood been treating you?

@Jessikka 24 weeks, you’ve made it past the half way point!

@MrsH497 You don’t need a full bladder at 20 weeks - babies are big enough on their own by then!

@purplefig Thank you, I do feel so hopeless and I cry at the drop of a hat; I can’t dress myself properly now or anything. I hope these next few weeks go quickly!! How did the last NCT class go?

@stormtrooperjulian Thanks lovely - ah what a fabulous picture!! How is motherhood going so far?

What is everyone doing for NYE? We’ve been invited to a dinner party but I don’t want to stay until even close to midnight!! DH thinks it would be weird to leave earlier but surely being pregnant is your get out of jail free card??
Attached a pic of me and the pooch in the garden earlier with the mondo-bump - how I have 5 more weeks of growth left I just don’t know!!

OP posts:
Larrydavid · 29/12/2019 18:22

Hey ladies! Hope you all had a lovely Christmas, it's so nice to see all the tiny babies enjoying their first xmas's too!

We hosted on Christmas Day and Boxing Day - it was both lovely and exhausting. I thought my morning sickness was gone but then was sick all day yesterday - perhaps Christmas was too much!

I went for my 16 week appointment with a doc - I'm having an internal scan on the 10th which will hopefully tell me if I'm high risk of a premature birth or not - I'm hopeful I won't be but as there are no hospital notes from my abnormal smears from the last few years, no one can be sure.

Can anyone recommend a good pregnancy pillow? One that doesn't take up the whole bed? I get so overwhelmed with all the choices for maternity/ baby stuff but my sleeping is terrible at the mo so it's time to buy one!

@MrsEG you have all my sympathy for the swollen feet - you poor thing! Do you at least have something new on Netflix to distract you?

@stormtrooperjulian Aww that picture is adorable!

@MrsH497 I agree with @purplefig - I also thought winter wonderland was overrated and overcrowded! The ballet sounds lovely though. I'd love to see the nutcracker.

@EltzBee I love the name Beatrix! So cute.

@Tropicana1 It's so helpful reading people's unfiltered birthing experiences. I'm glad you had a positive c section. And Olivia is so beautiful!

@ELW85 Those dreams sound horrid. Hope they stop soon! You're in the third trimester though! Yikes how time flies after the first trimester! Do you have much planned for your time off? Your nursery is looking 👌🏼

Larrydavid · 29/12/2019 18:24

@purplefig @MrsEG those bumps 😍😍

purplefig · 30/12/2019 07:46

@MrsEG your bump is just glorious! Love how proud the pooch looks in the second picture. Re: NYE, we're having one couple and their two kids over for dinner / games / v low key celebrations. They are old/good enough pals that if I get wiped by 11pm they won't mind in the slightest if I slope off. You are heavily pregnant with twins - that is the ultimate get out of jail free card imho. Maybe just give them a heads up e.g. "we'd love to come, but we might have to head off early as my current bedtime is 8pm 👵🏻". Last NCT was a bit of a drag tbh 😳 but I really like the couples we've got to meet, so it's been well worth doing just from that point of view. We're all meeting for a coffee next weekend with the teacher.
Btw - did you mention your swollen ankles to your midwife? My Ovia 34 week update today said it's always worth mentioning as in some cases could be a sign of preeclampsia. Not trying to freak you out, and I'm sure you're well aware, I just read it and immediately thought of you.

@Larrydavid glad you had a lovely holiday season - good excuse to take it a bit easier now! I'm afraid I can't recommend a pillow as mine is gigantic 🤣 I found mine by searching amazon and filtering highest rated. You could do that and look at the slimmer options?

What's everyone up to on this weird Monday?! We're both off so nipping Into town for a few bits and a coffee. Then I'm thinking an afternoon nap is on the cards. 34 weeks today which feels unreal! Feeling pretty good for the most part, just some back pain and general mobility issues of having a huge lump strapped to my belly 24/7 🤣. He/she wriggles so much now, I think I'll genuinely miss that sensation once they're here.

Last thing! For anyone struggling with their back - what's your mattress like? I've swapped over to the spare room as it's much harder, and I'm way more comfortable. X

ELW85 · 30/12/2019 08:08

Morning all!

@Tropicana1 - Olivia is gorgeous, and what a lovely name!

@MrsEG - you poor thing, and your poor leg! Having a huge cry about it is exactly what’s needed. You’re coping with a lot, physically and emotionally and you’re doing a fantastic job!!
For NYE we’re doing a couple of trips to call in on people, then picking up some Malaysian food and heading home for a quiet one. We have an annual tradition of putting all of the year’s photos in an album on NYE, so we’ll be doing that. Can’t wait!

@purplefig - welcome back, lovely to hear from you! I’m pleased you had a nice break. I can’t believe you’re 34 weeks already! I remember when we were posting bump photos (what feels like yesterday) and we were so keen for the ‘pop’ - there’s definitely no denying it now 😂
I was just thinking today that I’ll miss the feeling of him wriggling around when he’s here, but I honestly can’t wait now. Real life cuddles will be amazing!

@MrsR16 - pleased you and Ethan had a wonderful day! I’m sure it’s going to be loads of fun next year too when he’s super active and going mad!
I really do need to pick up with the hypnobirthing again. Not long left to get it through my head!

@Larrydavid - I had some abnormal smears and biopsies and the consultant has cleared me to remain low risk. I’ll keep everything crossed for you, but I’m sure you’ll be fine!
I also can’t believe how quickly it’s flown over. 12 weeks to go, but I’ve got a feeling he’ll be here slightly early. Don’t ask me why, probably anxiety talking 😂

@EltzBee - congratulations!

@stormtrooperjulian - wow, that 3 months has flown over! I hope you’re all well?

Well ladies, I’m in bed with some Ribena and my new candle on as DH has been working this Christmas. He did over 13 hours yesterday and I feel awful for him. If things go well though, he’ll be off tomorrow and New Year’s Day. Keep everything crossed for us!

MrsEG · 30/12/2019 10:07

@Larrydavid Sorry you’re feeling sick again! At least it stayed away for Christmas! Hope the internal scan goes well, and you get good news. Of note, if you are at risk of pre-term labour, in my experience they keep a very good eye on you also - I’ve had my bags packed since 28 weeks and so many check ups but 4 weeks on they’re still in there! My pregnancy pillow is massive - I needed a long one to wrap my legs around!

@purplefig I’m thinking that it’s a pretty good excuse! I may send the text today; I’m also absolutely riddled with a cold so could blame that as well. Your NYE sounds lovely!
Yeah they did all the checks for pre-eclampsia but came back clear. They were more concerned of a clot as one leg was a lot more swollen than they other but the scan was clear; we then spoke to a specialist who thinks one twin may be sitting on a vein (little blighter). But I now also have bi-weekly checks on it! Happy 34 weeks, how fab you’re feeling so good still! Enjoy your day!

@ELW85 Ah your NYE tradition sounds so fab; imagine how much fun next years photos are going to be!! Hope you’re enjoying your lie in with your Ribena :)

I had one of my better nights sleep in a while last night! Propped myself up in an almost seated position on the sofa and got a full 4 hours between 1-5. Then drifted off again at 7.30 and just awake again now! I don’t know if the cold I’ve picked up over Xmas is knocking me out, but I’ll take it!! DH is working today - he has a list the length of his arm of clients who want personal training today and tomorrow - who are these people and haven’t they heard of Celebrations and Netflix?! I’m on the sofa with some M&S flapjacks about to crack in to season 2 of You!! Have a good day ladies x

OP posts:
ELW85 · 30/12/2019 10:45

@MrsEG - OMG I can’t think of anything worse than a personal training session in these limbo days!?
Have a break and pick up the Oreos, ffs!
Pleased you managed to get some more sleep. As the midwife keeps saying to me “it’s your body preparing you for looking after the baby” not comforting, I know!

LokiCat · 30/12/2019 14:12

Hi all! :) hope you've all had a nice Christmas! We got back yesterday morning from NYC and the jet lag is real!! Didn't sleep till about 3am and currently shattered at work 😫

I'm loving all the new arrivals and baby photos 😍 can't wait to add my own little one when she's here 😁

@Tropicana1 huge congratulations lovely, Olivia is beautiful and a gorgeous name! Glad you ended up having a positive experience in the end. Hope you've been doing well?

@purplefig gorgeous bump photo! As you, it was very nice to get a break away, especially as everything was so festive in NY 😁
Glad you had a nice break away as well. We had some fun shopping for the little one in the sales 😁
Happy 34 weeks!! Eeek not long to go!

@MrsH497 ahh what a lovely date night! We saw the Nutcracker last Christmas for DH's birthday and it was lovely!! How exciting your 20 week scan is soon, I hope all goes well :)

@MrsEG oh sweet, you've had such a time during this pregnancy! I'm sorry to see how swollen your foot is and how difficult it's been for you, but you've been doing so well to get through it and you look absolutely gorgeous in the photo. Hopefully not too long to go for you and itll all be worth it once you're cuddling your boys ❤️
I'm glad you had a better nights sleep last night! Enjoy season 2 of You. We're hopefully going to start it this evening - can't wait!
DH is working a night on NYE, so it'll be me and bump having a takeaway and an early night :)

@EltzBee Beatrix is beautiful - what a lovely name!

@stormtrooperjulian look at those eyes 🥰🥰 what a cute photo!! Hope you're keeping well, can't believe he's already 3 months old!

@Larrydavid I hope the scan goes well and all is okay for you.

@ELW85 oh no, sorry to hear your DH was working such a long shift. I hope he gets time off tomorrow and on New Year's Day. Your NYE plans sound lovely! Can't believe you have 12 weeks left! How crazy!

Sorry if I missed anyone!

I'm 24 weeks tomorrow, can't believe it!
We a great time in NYC, lots of festive lights sight seeing, great food and a lot of walking! The latter did take a toll on me, to the point where I started bawling at a subway station on our last night when the attendant said there weren't any escalators/lifts available 🙈 I felt so silly, but had a nice bath when we got to the hotel room to relax and cheer me up.

Had my flu jab and whooping cough vaccine this morning - one in each arm, so they are both throbbing quite a bit!

Just wishing the working day to finish already so I can get back home and into bed!!

Hope you're all having a lovely Monday x

LokiCat · 30/12/2019 14:14

Quick q, did any of you get the feeling of constantly being hungry? I just had lunch about an hour ago and I'm feeling ravenous again like I haven't eaten all day! It was the same last night after dinner! Not sure what's going on 🤔

purplefig · 30/12/2019 15:16

@LokiCat glad you had a fab time, must be such a magical time at Christmas. And fwiw I think your subway meltdown sounds more than fair! Just to let you know, the whooping cough jab can cause a red / lumpy / hot reaction which is apparently normal - but I was taken quite a back!! Enjoy climbing back into bed when you get home and resting up.

@MrsEG glad you managed a chunk of sleep last night - on the bright side you're already going to be a pro at cat naps once the boys arrive! Glad they're keeping a close eye on you. Are you about 32 weeks now? You're doing an epic job!! Enjoy flapjacks and season two of You (looks too scary for me 😳).

@ELW85 oh my goodness yes, I remember those nauseous days of willing ourselves a bump - didn't quite factor in the agro of then having to haul it around 24/7 🤣. Your NYE sounds perfect 👌🏼 love the album tradition. Fingers crossed DH gets tomorrow and NY day off.

Today I can feel the baby wriggling on both my left and right side...slightly concerned they've gone transverse!! Will hopefully find out at tomorrow's midwife appointment.

Town was unbearably hectic, but I picked up such a cute baby memory book in M&S and some containers so I can start batch cooking in Jan. Also PSA: those hideous but comfy nursing bras are down to £20 for two (sadly out of stock in my size).

Have a lovely evening all! I'm having a super chilled one. Currently resting my back in the bath 👌🏼 x

purplefig · 30/12/2019 15:16

Oh one more thing! Has anyone noticed any, er, crusty stuff in their bras?! I've just been googling and it looks like it might be the start of colostrum.

ELW85 · 30/12/2019 15:31

@LokiCat - so pleased you had a wonderful time! The walking definitely takes it out of you (as well as weaving through human traffic!) so I totally get you! Hopefully the jet lag resolves itself soon, but at least you’ll be up for NYE 😂
And yes, I also have my ravenous days that are starting to tail off a bit now... I can only assume it’s to do with less stomach room. I would just go with it!

@purplefig - ah thank you, I do love our NYE tradition. It’s really nice (and sometimes bittersweet) to look back on our year, but always worthwhile.
Re: the bra thing, yes! But only on one side?! It was like a yellowy kind of colour. I’ve only had it once though.

Well ladies, I finally caved in and bought some Gaviscon today. Heartburn has been increasingly horrendous the past couple of weeks and I’m done being a martyr.
DH has been on the phone with all of the swear words under the sun because of work.
Looks like another late one tonight but the contractors are refusing to come in tomorrow morning, so they’re putting his project at risk. Meanwhile, I’m under a blanket and ignoring work responsibilities. It’s alright for some, poor thing!

I hope your days are going well and we manage to get a grasp of what day/time/decade it is soon; these holidays are really throwing me off!

MrsEG · 30/12/2019 19:14

@ELW85 Ugh I hate when people say that! ‘It’s just your body preparing you for the baby’ - surely some decent rest would be better prep before all the sleepless nights!! I love the chewable Gaviscon, I find it settles me much better before bed when my heartburn is at its worst. It’s been a miracle! Your poor DH sounds like he’s having a nightmare. Hope it all calms down for him soon!

@LokiCat two episodes in so far! It was all I had energy for! NYC sounds like it was fab! Yes - I was ravenous constantly up to about 28 weeks; my advice would be, eat! My tummy is super squashed now so having to have tiny meals all the time. Wish I’d made the most of it before haha!

@purplefig Yep 32 weeks! I was actually congratulated for getting this far and keeping them in by my midwife haha! Hope you enjoyed the bath and enjoy the appt tomorrow - hope baby haven’t switched transverse for you; it’s so uncomfortable when they lie like that!
Yep - if it’s yellow or orange and a bit crusty it’s the start of colostrum. I have to harvest mine but not yet as it can induce labour!! But if you don’t need to do anything with yours just ignore it and be pleased to see your body is making it good and ready!

Picked up our cot mattresses tonight that finally arrived at John Lewis and the walk around the store ruined me - I have so much pressure in my pelvis I sometimes feel like the babies are just gonna fall out! That’s enough walking for me for today! Back on the couch now with a terrys chocolate orange - all is well with the world again!

OP posts:
ELW85 · 31/12/2019 08:44

@MrsEG - it’s so ridiculous isn’t it?! The midwife said it to me like it was some ancient tradition. I was like “nah mate, I’d still appreciate the sleep!”
You’re doing such an awesome job, and I know you’re being put through the wringer but you are very inspiring!
Has the midwife given you an ideal week to get to? I know it’s all different with twins but can’t remember (baby brain!)

Happy NYE all!
DH has decided he wants to go for a browse around town today, and I can’t decide if it’ll be quiet or manic...one way to find out 😂
At least he’s not at work!
Have a great day everyone.

MrsEG · 31/12/2019 09:10

@ELW85 I’m 32+2 today; the goal is reaching 37 weeks so they’d be classed as term but we’d then get them out right away (I think I’ll be given my c-section date at my appt next week...!) but pre-term labour is common, so I’m doing all I can to keep them inside! For some reason I have 35 weeks in my head, but I don’t know if that’s mother’s intuition or a very irrational fear forcing me to get myself sorted!! I’m basically there - just need to set up the Moses baskets, have a final once over of all the hospital bags (I have so over packed and yet find myself adding to them constantly) and clean the house to within an inch of its life!!
Enjoy the day - I find NYE can be a really funny one, the supermarkets are totally rammed but other shops tend to me quite nice! We’re off to pick up some pictures we had framed at lunch time so I’m hoping that rings true and I’m not remembering wrong haha! Still very jealous of the Malaysian food!

Happy NYE everyone - wonder if any babies will decide to make an appearance tonight for one final 2019 baby?! I’ll keep my fingers crossed everyone stays out haha!x

OP posts:
ELW85 · 31/12/2019 09:40

@MrsEG - that’s so exciting! It’s really flown over, and keeping everything crossed for you they go to term and life gets a bit less painful for you until then!
35 weeks would still be great though, wouldn’t it?
You’ll have done a brilliant job preparing everything, but I think I’ll be like you on the over packing front 😊
Good luck with the trip to getting the pictures - I’m sure you’re right. DH has decided to go on a Starbucks run so I’ve been given a bit of a stay of execution for town, haha!

purplefig · 31/12/2019 11:27

@ELW85 sorry about your heartburn, it's a horrible thing to deal with. I hope the gaviscon really helps. Yeah the first I spotted the dried colustrum I was so confused hahaha! I hope town is nice for a wander - we've stupidly got to go to the supermarket later. Didn't plan that very well! 🤪 enjoy your Starbucks.

@MrsEG you've done incredibly well keeping them in! Have you got a feeling they'll come around the 35 week mark? Good to know it's likely colustrum - I'm not planning to harvest any, but guess it's good to know my body is cracking on. How're you feeling today? Are you still planning to go to that party?

Just in from my 34 week midwife appointment...the baby's head is in my pelvis!! So definitely not transverse 🤣. She said don't panic it doesn't mean they're going to arrive anytime soon! It's all starting to feel so real now....

I feel like I'm starting to experience the desire to nest too...going to have a big tidy up before our guests arrive (so much Christmas clutter!!).

MrsH497 · 31/12/2019 15:23

Hey ladies!
@purplefig so good that baby is in the right position! Think I'll enjoy nesting!!!
@ELW85 heartburn is awful hope the gaviscon helps you a bit.
@MrsEG you've done amazingly keeping those boys safe and snug keeping everything crossed they stay in a bit longer.

Scan was amazing baby is growing nicely! Placenta is a bit low down so having another scan at 32 weeks to make sure it's moved and check growth but they were really happy with all the measurements.

MrsEG · 01/01/2020 09:01

Happy New Year ladies! Happy ‘year we become mums’!!

@ELW85 It really does feel like it’s gone/going so fast, i think especially as I feel like I basically lose a month at the end too! I’m so ready for them now though - I can’t wait to see what sizes they’re predicted at next week. Ha overpacking is surely the only way with a hospital bag! I’ve packed so many outfits (do I need tiny baby? Newborn? First size?! What’s the difference?!?!) and also have a ‘back up bag’ of outfits in case we’re in for a few extra day’s for any reason!! Then I have my full bag - but also crammed in my boot is my pregnancy pillow, some cushions/pillows from home and a dressing gown. I’m such a ‘just in case’ kinda gal!!
Hope you had a fab NYE making your photo album! Have you got your hospital bags sorted yet?

@purplefig Yep I couldn’t tell you why but I just have this hunch about having them at 35 weeks; there is no logic or reason to it at all. I think the general heaviness of my belly now adds to the fear a bit but saying that someone posted something similar on a twins group I am on, and lots commented saying that’s just how it feels the last few weeks, like the babies are right between your legs and you could just sneeze them out - but they stayed put for a lot of women til 37 weeks! So who knows!
Oh how fab baby is playing ball and gotten engaged for you! I’m so excited - have you any inklings at all about the sex, have you found you’ve had any dreams about it at all?
We did go to the dinner last night, it was lovely AND I made it to midnight! We left 10 mins later but still!!

@MrsH497 Ah how fab the scan went so well, great way to see out the year! When’s your due date?

I don’t know if anyone else has tried it but I slept so well sat upright last night, takes all the extra weight and pressure off your back and left side. It’s a revelation! My huge swollen feet are massive again today though and a little painful if I’m honest - may try and go for a wee waddle to work them loose! Have good day’s all x

OP posts:
purplefig · 01/01/2020 09:14

Happy New Year everyone one! What an exciting year we're in for and what a way to kickstart a shiny new decade!!

@MrsEG glad you've found some respite by sitting up sleeping - lack of sleep makes everything ten times worse in my opinion! And huge congrats on getting to midnight, that's so good going. Hope your walk helps your swelling today. I keep changing my mind about the sex - I've said boy from day 1 but that's just because I know we conceived right around ovulation. I've had dreams it's been both, and twins! So not sure I'm very reliable.

@MrsH497 glad your scan went well - it's amazing how much they develop isn't it?! Yeah yesterday before our friends arrived I had a big sort out of our under the stairs pram/shoes/coat area and it felt so good 💪🏼

So I sent MIL a pic of my bump (the one I put upon here!) last night as she likes being in the loop and won't see us before the baby is here now. Anyway she text back saying "looks great - the weight really suits you" 😐. I'm sure she didn't say it with malice, but it bothered me. I'm blaming my pregnancy hormones. Loads of other people have said such nice things - it's funny what sticks in your head isn't it?!

Right I'm going to stop moping and drag myself to the beach for a NYD dog walk. Have a good one all! X

ELW85 · 01/01/2020 09:19

Happy New Year all!

We got our album done, and it was lovely to look back through the year. This year’s album will be amazing for entirely different reasons and I can’t wait!

@MrsEG - well done to making it to midnight!! I scraped it too but may need a nap later 😂
I haven’t done the hospital bag yet but I’m going to make a start soon. My spritz for bits has just arrived so I don’t think I’m awaiting anything else. I’m totally with you on the sizes thing! When exactly DOES newborn end and 0-1 start?! Who knows!
Your sleeping idea sounds great - my legs are in some sort of weird pain/cramping thing through the night, so I basically end up turning over repeatedly like a rotisserie chicken!

@purplefig - I’m all about the nesting phase too!! It’s quite comforting in a way. How was your new year? I hope you had a great time.
The Starbucks was wonderful and I’m currently contemplating what to make for brekkie. Might be cook at home pastries! Gaviscon at the ready (it’s working wonders!)

@MrsH497 - fantastic news that your scan went well! I’m sure your placenta will move but it’s great they’re going to check again.
Do you have much time off from work for the holidays or straight back to it?

Back to work tomorrow for me and I’m kind of gutted.
Have loved having a break over the festive season, but life must resume at some point. Can’t it be Christmas every day?!

MrsEG · 01/01/2020 09:21

@purplefig Oh I hate stuff like that - why can’t people just shut up! My water retention is bad over my whole body now and the other day I said ‘I hate that I don’t have a chin anymore’ and DH replied with ‘Sweetie, you have several chins now’ - and then wondered why it went down like a lead balloon. I can just about raise a half smile to his ‘joke’ about it now but body confidence is so low it’s like, keep it to yourself!! Also, I think you look absolutely wonderful in the pic you posted - the only weight I see is your beautiful bump!! I’m sure people just like to say something, anything - when they should just say nothing!! Enjoy the dog walk :)
