Question about pregnancy symptoms

I'd be grateful for any advice from ladies who've been pregnant before. I've been TTC my first and up till now I've tried hard not to get too obsessive, eg never bothering with pregnancy tests, and not scrutinising or second guessing symptoms during the two week wait or anything. However, this month I have very strange soreness/tenderness in my breasts which has been sufficient to draw my attention. However, I'm only currently on about day 8 or 9 dpo which seems far too early for any pregnancy symptoms. Is it conceivable that this could in fact be a pregnancy sign? Otherwise, what on earth is it?

I had tender breasts 8 DPO, and I’m pregnant. At this point I wasn’t getting positives on pregnancy tests.

CouldBeAGreatMum · 02/11/2019 15:33

Oh right, thank you. I didn't even realise it was a thing. I thought those kind of symptoms wouldn't appear until far later.

I'm having the same feeling at the moment, I've also been experiencing some mild period-like cramps for 5 days.

I'm going to take a test mid next week.

CouldBeAGreatMum · 02/11/2019 16:31

Interesting @palmaviolet66 To be honest I always thought that people having symptoms at this stage was probably just wishful thinking! I hope it isn't!

If you look at it biologically, once the fertilised egg has implanted, your hormones get going. So up to about 6/7 days past ovulation, symptoms are not from pregnancy hormones as your body hasn’t yet recognised a pregnancy. Those looking at symptoms from 2DPO, it is wishful thinking! But as soon as that egg implants, then you could feel symptoms depending on how sensitive to pregnancy hormones you are! From about 9/10 DPO in both pregnancies I noticed heartburn which I never get any other time but pregnancy! By 12DPO, I was fairly convinced I was pregnant as I was so so bloated!

Good Luck! Flowers

newbeginningsyeah · 02/11/2019 17:52

I had symptoms and a positive test at 9dpo.

CouldBeAGreatMum · 02/11/2019 18:46

OMG @Bol87 I have had heartburn! At least I think it is, as I've never had it before. A sharp acidic pain down my chest/throat (where the food goes down basically). I have drunk a glass of milk a couple of days this week, including this afternoon, to relieve it. It never occurred to me that could be connected to TTC and I was wondering why it was happening.

Please keep me updated. I hope you get some good news

HopefulHun · 03/11/2019 19:36

My first symptom was sore boobs and that was 7dpo.

Fingers crossed for you! Smile

palmaviolet66 · 03/11/2019 20:34

I'm due on my period today, but there seems to be no sign of it. Yet I have started feeling slightly nauseous.

CouldBeAGreatMum · 04/11/2019 14:03

I've still got 5 days left until period due. Was going to try an early test kit but thinking I'll wait until mid week.

Keep me posted Palma

I'm in my third pregnancy - I always knew within 3-4 days of conception and was always right. Never had any time that I thought I was pregnant and wasn't either, because my symptoms were different when I was pregnant - tired, weak, nauseous within the week!
The first time I didn't realise I was pregnant - didn't know the symptoms - just thought I was ill until my period didn't come.
Not worth taking the test early though - you could get a false negative.
For my second, I got false negatives constantly, but knew I was pregnant. Finally, a blood test showed I was already 5 weeks.

Lozzy25 · 04/11/2019 15:28

Me and my DH tried for a year to get pregnant and each month I obsessed about symptoms and convinced myself I was pregnant! The month I actually got pregnant was the month we kind of gave up properly trying and had been referred for fertility tests so I didn't pay any attention to symptoms and I thought my period was just on its way.

One night when I was 11dpo I had a dream that I took a pregnancy test and it was positive, I woke up and took one and it was positive!

I did have sore boobs, but they were no more sore than just before my period! To be honest I didn't really feel any different until I was 5 weeks pregnant!

Good luck Smile

twotimesthetrouble · 04/11/2019 16:06

I gave in a took a test - it's negative Shock

I'll try again in a few days if there's no sign of my period.

SweetChillis · 04/11/2019 21:55

My first symptom was sore boobs at roughly 4 dpo shortly followed by light cramping a few days later (which went on for weeks) I normally only had that 2/3 days before AF was due. A couple of days before AF was due I noticed my wee smelt funny too, almost like a sweet bacon smell (apparently a sign of hormone changes). It was no surprise to me AF didn't show, I just knew I was pregnant. Currently 22 weeks with a little boy on the way 😊

Besidesthepoint · 04/11/2019 23:19

I had a lot of symptoms when I wasn't pregnant and abdolutely no symptoms when I was. It's a waiting game I'm afraid. Good luck

Cantthink2 · 05/11/2019 01:00

Mines were incredibly painful the day I took my pregnancy test. The worst they had been throughout the pregnancy.
I remember finding it difficult trying to get out of bed because of them.

The pain had been building up over days & I put it down to my period being due.

CouldBeAGreatMum · 06/11/2019 08:53

So my symptoms have continued and this morning (3 days before period due) I caved and took two first response tests. I'm pretty sure there's a line on both??
Not a clue what happens now or what to do next. Help! Shock

Congratulations @CouldBeAGreatMum that looks like a positive to me!!

HopefulHun · 06/11/2019 18:05

Looks positive to me!! Congrats!

The first thing I did was call the docs to get the ball rolling for midwife appointments etc xx

SweetChillis · 06/11/2019 22:11

@CouldBeAGreatMum looks like a positive to me!! I took my test when I was 3 days late and got a very definite line. If I was you I'd do another test in a couple of days time and the line should have got darker....but it looks like good news to me 😊
