Help! Low hcg levels

Here’s my story. Currently cycle day 39. I should be 5+3.

AF due cycle day 32, no sign (I’m always a 32 day cycle).

I had tested for ovulation this month, didn’t get a positive opk.

Very light spotting cycle day 34 and 35 then nothing.

Cycle day 36 I got BFP from first morning urine. Then got two bfn. Had blood taken cycle day 36 to check levels.

Cramps the evening of cycle day 36 and all day cycle day 37.

No symptoms except bloatedness since cycle day 36.

Docs phone today (cycle day 39) and tell me results are inconclusive. Level between 6-30. And it’s recommended to test 48hrs after to check levels are increasing.

Docs cannot fit me in for blood test until cycle day 46!!!!

I’m going crazy here. Does anyone have any advice or positive stories?

My theories are

  1. I ovulated late so when I had bloods taken on cd 36 I was still very early hence the bfn on urine test.
  1. I’m having an ectopic or miscarriage.

I don’t understand why docs aren’t concerned I could be having an ectopic and aren’t testing my blood earlier!

I’ve been in bits today. DH has had enough of me :(

@thirteen92
I am okay, more emotional than anything just now. I had my injection in my arm but being a nurse I was expecting it in leg or buttock.
I had done loads of reading after my bloods on wed as i was kinda expecting the diagnosis.

They give you an information leaflets with the do's and don't. Only thing to be aware of is the initial follow up, you will be back at the hospital couple of times a week until its out your system.
My other option was surgery but I really wasn't keen on that.

From the inital injection though, its no worse than getting your bloods done xx

Hey guys...

So attended EPAU at 8.15am this morning. Had my bloods taken to check hcg levels to then make a plan.

Hcg level was 54.2 on Friday. Today’s levels were 109. Nurse said she wouldn’t be happy me having the methotrexate based on an increase in levels by 101% in 48hrs.

She then spoke to the doctor who then spoke to the consultant and they’ve decided to let me go home and go back in for a scan on 11th November. They’re hoping the hcg will continue to rise and that by Monday my levels will be greater than 1500 and that they’ll be able to see something on an internal scan. That way they are more accurately diagnose an ectopic or not.

They’ve given me open access to EPAU in case of any change in symptoms etc.

I’m really not sure how I feel. We’d been told on Friday that the blood work showed that the pregnancy wasn’t viable. I went there today to have methotrexate and now I’ve been sent home. I know we’re not out of the woods yet, far from it and I am aware this could still be ectopic and that it’ll end in miscarriage but I’m like do I feel happy, positive, worried, stressed, relieved?

I’ll keep you posted!

@thirteen92 thats good news, fingers crossed it all works out for you xx

KHall84 · 03/11/2019 19:10

My levels started 9ff at only 82 and then 140 48hrs later with my viable pregnancy so although low it's a viable pregnancy and am almost 16 weeks now so dotn give up hope xxx

Monique007 · 03/11/2019 19:35

@thirteen92 hope all goes well and baby is in a good place and levels rise high!!

Darkstar4855 · 03/11/2019 19:59

I’m glad they haven’t given you methotrexate! If your levels are doubling every 2-3 days then it could be a viable pregnancy, just a lot earlier than you thought. Fingers crossed for good news.

Jurassiclover · 03/11/2019 20:17

@thirteen92 ahhh, I'm keeping everything crossed for you that it all ends up being fine and just earlier!

thirteen92 · 03/11/2019 20:24

Thank you so much everyone! I’m trying to remain positive but not get too excited as I’m very aware this is probably an ectopic pregnancy. In a perfect world, all will end up fine but, who knows!

@KHall84 that is such good news for you. I’m still very concerned but hoping next Monday they’ll be able to locate a sac and then rule out ectopic (potentially). In the mean time I just have to sit tight.

Hey,

I'm supposed to be 4 weeks +2 today.
I have had previous ectopic resulting in a tube removal nearly 5 years ago.

I had pains on Sunday and was admitted to
The EPU and GAU on Sunday night had bloods taken result was 225hcg. I had a scan but nothing could be seen.

I was advised to go up on Tuesday (48 hours after) for more bloods which i had done. The result was 445hcg. I went to the EPU today and they seem happy with these results and are scanning me Friday!

I'm very nervous

thirteen92 · 09/11/2019 08:20

@emzyemz85 Hi! How did the scan go yesterday?
I really hope all is well for you! Your hcg levels are better than mine were last week.

I’ve had 2 days of spotting brown this week. My scan at EPAU is on Monday and that’s when I’ll find out finally whether this is a progressing pregnancy or not! I feel like I’ve been through hell recently.

How did you get your ectopic diagnosed last time?

Hope you had good news today, @thirteen92 xx

thirteen92 · 11/11/2019 19:40

They found the sac in my womb!!! Only measuring 1.3mm so they’ve said I’m no more than 5 weeks which doesn’t add up to my dates. Back in 2 weeks for another scan to make sure it’s growing!

First time I've read this thread, but really pleased for you that it's not ectopic. Will keep my fingers crossed for you!

thirteen92 · 11/11/2019 21:15

I’ve started bleeding this evening! Actual pink blood :( I wonder if the scan has irritated something or whether I’m miscarrying?! Just seems a bit coincidental that it’s after the transvaginal scan today! I’m panicking.

How have you got on OP was it good news on your next scan?

thirteen92 · 01/12/2019 19:05

Hello! Unfortunately not I’m afraid. Last Tuesday I had an ectopic pregnancy and my right tube removed. The ectopic had ruptured my right tube.

What they thought was a gestational sac 2 weeks ago was actually a cyst!

When they removed my right tube they also noticed my left tube is damaged so I’m high risk of having an ectopic and losing my left tube if I become pregnant again... I’m utterly devastated 😢

Oh no I'm so sorry sending lots of virtual hugs! Fingers crossed you manage to defy the odds and have a successful pregnancy in the future. Take care of yourself Thanksxx

danni0509 · 01/12/2019 20:54

@thirteen92 bless you. ThanksThanksThanks

I had an ectopic pregnancy and lost a tube. Not long after that I randomly stopped ovulating so had a year of clomid which didn't work, then when i eventually managed to conceive again a few years later it was another ectopic in my remaining tube. I had to have it removed as was also badly damaged, I had hydrosalpinx, they said I had a lot of scarring inside and they suspected from pelvic inflammatory disease or similar, so being tubeless i had to have ivf.

First ivf worked but I had a miscarriage and really had had enough by this point, It was just one thing after another.

Did another round of ivf, although wasn't hopeful for success tbh and now have a 6yr old from ivf. I often still can't believe it all worked out.

It will feel like the end of the world to you now, I honestly do remember feeling like this! Really depressing!

Just remember you always have options, stay positive x x x Thanks
