Does getting suddenly scared harms the baby?

I am 17 and a half weeks pregnant. I am generally really careful with everything.

This morning I was in a hurry to get the train for work and as I was half way through the level crossing they started closing the barriers and I felt so scared that they will close me, I quickly ran to the other side. I am worried I caused stress to my baby as I felt stressed and weak in the knees and increased my heart rate as I ran for a minute suddenly.

I had a very early miscarriage last year and I am very worried about my baby this time.

Any thoughts or sharing personal experiences would be really appreciated. Thank you.

Nope, baby will be fine. Hope you’re ok, that must have been scary. Next time done try and race the barriers.

No it won't harm your baby.

So the lights not start flashing before the barriers come down though?

It's just your fight or flight kicking in....

People have babies in war zones.

Also, if the barriers started coming down then you crossed when the warning lights were flashing. Don’t do that.

There are babies all over the world being born into very stressful and horrible situations I.e war zones and poverty etc. They're pretty tough and well protected in your uterus :) your baby was probably rocked to sleep by your sudden movements. I know when baby is wriggling if I stand up and rock from side to side or climb the stairs it sends him to sleep! Lol.
Just make sure you're not crossing the tracks when the warning signs are flashing next time ? :) x

When I was around 20 weeks pregnant I was driving the car at night and a brick hit my windscreen. (It came off the vehicle in front). Smashed windscreen. Scared the life out of me. Baby is now 12 weeks old. I wouldn't worry.

Hello everyone,
So I am around 11 weeks pregnant. Earlier today I was t my boyfriend’s car (which is quite broken at the moment 🙈) and my door suddenly opened. I got so terrified, literally shocked and felt that the whole adrenaline went into my stomach....went home and trying to relax now but I do feel I dull pain on the right side of my stomach ( where I kind of felt the adrenaline 🙈🙈) and little bit of lower right back dull pain....it is definitely decreasing ( while Im writing this message lol) but still I can’t help thinking if I caused a harm to the baby? Any thoughts on this?
Thank you!!!
