Over the bump maternity jeans

Hiya,

I'm currently 21 weeks pregnant. I used to be between a size 8 and 10 pre pregnancy and just ordered some maternity jeans in both a size 8 and 10, the size 8 fit but was slightly tight.

The size 10 feels more comfortable, they are skinny leg over the bump jeans and fit like how normal jeans should. This might sound silly, but the elasticy bit around the bump is snug, not super tight, but not loose either...I'm just worried if this can squash the baby? It's like if you were wearing one of those bodycon dresses.

I'm a size 8-10 also (29 weeks). I have a size 10 pair and find mine a little snug. I think they are intended to add some support for your bump. I'm not concerned they will squash the baby as there is plenty of fluid to prevent that. I'm on baby 3 and have worn with the previous two and thankfully no squished tiny humans. By the end of the day I am grateful to take them off and pop on my trusty pj bottoms. Hope that reassures you.

It is normal for it to be snug. It will help support the weight of your bump and needs to hold up the jeans!

You really won't squash the baby by wearing tight clothes. You will be far too uncomfortable in the clothes long before you could affect the baby. There's a lot of stomach muscle and fluid to cushion the baby.

Ah thanks @snowflakeeel @happyasasandboy

The things first time mums worry about ey?! Reading my original question and laughing at myself for asking such a question in the first place. Oh well, better to be reassured than worried lol. Thanks again!

It's easy to start wondering about these things when it is all new Wink

One of reasons why we have these forums. What worries you know will have been a worry of another at some point. Enjoy your pregnancy. :-)

now! not know (doh - third trimester brain lapse)

Nah it won’t squash, don’t worry! Lol. You want the band to be on the tight side as it will loosen as your belly grows.

Hehe, thanks everyone. Told my husband I posted this question and he couldn't stop laughing, said I needed to chill out

I have some which I wore last pregnancy. The band was too loose and the jeans were always falling down. I had to wear a big stretch belt to hold them up. Took it off once in the cinema and left it there, oops! Blush
