Should I complain?

My DH and I decided, with the help of a lots of Mumsnet girls, that we would not have any of the tests on offer for Downs syndrome or spina bifida etc (as an older mum we were offered extra tests as a formality). We made it clear that we didn't want any tests at all.
When the midwife took some blood at my last appointment I didn't give it another thought as I know they check for iron levels etc and she didn't tell me what she was taking the blood for so imagine our shock when we got a letter yesterday giving us the results of the Downs syndrome and spina bifida tests!
As it happens the letter says that i am low risk (1 in 530) but what if it was different?
I dont want to complain just to cause a fuss and certainly not for any retribution but I think that the system should be such that a mistake like this, unless just a one off human error, should not be allowed to happen.
What do you think?

thanks everyone for your comments. The letter is headed Triple Test results so it's definitely the blood test results that they are referring to bettybimbo.

I spoke to a friend today who is Chair of the NCT and she has a good relationship with Head of Midwifery Services at the hospital and has suggested that i write to her which i shall do this weekend.

I'll let you know if and when i hear anything back.

BettyBimbo, the chart it sounds as though you are describing is a BMI index. Completely unrelated. Works out if you are overwieght, if yes, then you are sometimes considered at risk of complications during pregnancy I think. Completely different from poor Mckensie having those bloods taken.

just the update. I have just listened to a message left on my answerphone by the lady that I wrote to. She has apologised profusely and insists that she will be looking into the situation very seriously. She's going to call me again to talk next week and has asked for a copy of notes.

More update.

I had a call again today from the Head of Midwifery who is looking into this. She has comfirmed that my notes do state that I declined the Nucal Fold etc and also declined the triple test. She's told me exactly who is investigating, what they are doing etc and has offered to copy me on all correspondence and reports (which I have declined).

She apologised again for the error and thanked me for taking the trouble to bring it to her attention and said she'll call me again once the final report has been made.

I think it's being handled really well and i'm impressed. My only concern now is that the midwife or midwives who might possiblt be reprimanded will be on duty when I go in to give birth and they'll remember me for causing trouble and be horrible to me!! Daft I know but my imagination is working overtime now.
