Hi all.
I had a 25 week check yday. I have just noticed in my notes it’s lower than the 2 previous times. The last two times it was done it was 140 and then 150. Yesterday’s was 120. Is this normal? Xx

My babies hr at 28wk appt has dropped as well similar to yours. Midwife wasn’t concerned at the appointment.

I think it can vary based on a number of factors e.g. if you've just eaten. But as long as it's within the normal range it's fine.

The feral heart rate is considered normal if the baseline is anywhere between 110 and 160bpm (can be higher with activity which it is ‘accelerative). It tends to be a bit higher in earlier pregnancy and get lower later on due to the developing vagus nerve/parasympathetic nervous system.

Fetal not feral!

Babies heart rate will change depending on what they’re doing. Like you, it’ll be slower at rest when they’re sleeping and higher if they’re awake and moving. I had monitoring once due to reduced movement in my pregnancy and HR went from around 100 at rest (quite low) to 160 when the little monkey woke up and started moving around.

My baby's heart rate jumped significantly during a doppler session with my midwife. He was asleep, quite snug and comfy at his resting heart rate and then woke up and began thrashing around the next, heart rate increased. Could be your little one was just resting. X
