Consultants appointment - what to expect?

Hi all! I have a consultants appointment next week, and I don’t know what to expect? What will they do? And will they scan me? I need to know so my partner knows to be there or not.
I have read of some women being scanned and some women not. I guess it depends on their reasoning of being referred to the consultants.
I was referred because of consecutive miscarriages. So I’m thinking perhaps they might?
I will be 16+3 at the appointment. We had our dating scan when I was 13+3. Had all required bloods done and screening tests for this time period already.
So what should I expect please? I don’t want to arrive to a surprise scan without my partner as I wouldn’t want to possibly find out the gender without him! We have our 20 week scan booked for 8th October, but you never know - it’s a possibility!
Many thanks in advance ladies Smile

I can't advise on a consultant for reccurent miscarriage, but from what I know it does vary depending on the reasons.
Mine was for a prior tear during labour, so more of a paper exercise than anything else. It was pointless in my case, the consultant checked my notes, asked how I was and that was it.
If the only thing that concerns you is having a scan and finding out the sex without your partner, then I'd just say that you don't want to know yet if they can tell and then wait for your 20 week scan.

No they don't routinely scan you at a 16 week appointment. I had mine the other week and I've been booked for a scan at 28 weeks.

I saw a midwife first who did the usual blood pressure and urine checks and then saw the doctor who listened to baby's heartbeat and discussed the risk factors that led to me being there - age, slightly higher BMI and previous problems like pre-eclampsia and shoulder dystocia. They arranged my gestational diabetes test for 28 weeks and told me what extra appointments I needed for blood pressure checks, gave me prescriptions I needed and discussed future plan re further scans.

They won't normally scan you but if you're not already booked for extra scans they will request those then. I have mine at 28,32 and 34 weeks

My consultant just looked over my notes, did heartbeat for baby, BP and urine sample checks. Talked to me about next steps. I was also swabbed for strepB because of complications in previous pregnancy so she has decided to do that early but that's not a routine swab

I had my first consultant appointment yesterday (had my dating scan earlier at 12+6) and my consultant did decide to do another scan at the time. I hadn't expected it so hadn't drunk enough but was really
Glad DH was there. They also gave me 2
