OH GOD! So.... I looked at Lottie the other day as he was playing, on her own, and thought, you really do need a brother or sister. Then was at at SALT appt the other day when the therapist said does she have any siblings and I said 'no, but I think I need to get her one'!
Think that looking at it that way might make this 1 to 2 kids thing easier to get my head round. I really want another baby, just that very common and totally normal feeling of a) not wanting anyone else but Lottie in my life b) scared it'll be awful and I won't cope and so on, I'm sure most of you know where I am coming from. So the easiest way for me to deal with the whole being scared thing is to concentrate on the 'I'm doing this for lottie' thing.

So, what I wanted to ask was... I just had my 2nd period after coming off the depo injection which I was on since Lottie was born. I came on on the 10th September, so when is the best time to make sure I have lots of sex?!

TC - no2 was wanted but not actually planned if you know what I mean. It just happened - being a geriatric mother last time - thought it would take me a while. Ha Ha Ha... famous last thoughts... happened straight away - although - glad it happened that way otherwise I would have all those thoughts you are having.

And hey - dd is not walking and won't be walking in about 6 weeks - but hey - I'll be the frazzled mum with toddler under one arm and babe under the other....I know dd is making amazing progress but ...

I have all those worries - mainly how in the world do I cope with 2, and how in the world do I cope with bringing an NT baby home.. no experience of that - no nasal gastric tube, no 4 hourly feeds, no carefully measured feeds, no medication, no visits from paed. community nurses as well as doc visits.... How in the world will I cope...

Oh well too late now!!!

I can tell you that I think it will be brilliant for dd to have someone else to share her life with - other than her mum and dad.... at the moment she is pulling up my shirt ( thank goodness not in public) and rubbing my belly saying AAAHHHHHHH!! baby...... she has also cuddled the belly - very cute...

So despite the doubts and worries - I say go for it!!!

mckenzie · 22/09/2004 13:23

if yo're having mixed feelins about wanting to try for No2 Thomcat why dont you leave it to fate. Just stop using contraception and carry on having sex spontaneously and for fun, rather than as a way to make a baby, and see what happens.
I thoroughly recommend being pregnant with no 2; it's made me love and appreciate DS even more for some reason.

aloha · 22/09/2004 13:51

I always thought 'leaving it to fate' was the same thing as 'trying'. I think having sex without contraception is 'trying'!

Thomcat · 22/09/2004 13:53

Yes, yes, yes, more reassurance please, you're all doing a great job. Edisvold, you are in the perfect place to advise me aren't you! 6 weeks to go - OMG that was so fast!!!!!!!!

Mckenzie - yes, i think you have a good point and that's probably how I'll do it tbh.

OOh this is so exciting.

I'd go for number 2 if we had more money and a bigger house

Thomcat · 22/09/2004 14:12

Northener, don't start putting me off!
Having anothe bubs would mean D packing up his studio into the loft and we're skint all the time now! There's always a few very good reasons NOT to have another child bit a million much better ones in favour.

Sorry TC didn't mean to put a dampner on things! I think you should go for it.

Thomcat · 22/09/2004 16:02

Northener, don't worry love, you just echoed my own little voice of reason. I have to go for it tbh, Lottie needs siblings.

motherinferior · 22/09/2004 16:06

And face it, babes, YOU want another baby.

Nothing wrong with that - personally I think you are such a fab mum you should have another, and another, and maybe one or two more...

CountessDracula · 22/09/2004 16:11

TC LOL @ you thinking about me when you have sex

Yes GR is great for post prandial taxi shagging heh heh

TC she is very well indeed thanks! And lottie?

Thomcat · 22/09/2004 21:02

Thanks girls.

I know leaving it to fate is still trying, what I meant was I won't be ringing D in the middle of the day demanding he come home cos I'm ready!!!!

CD - I'm not talking to you!!!!!!!!! We did it this morning and after I giggled to myself for ages cos a few minutes after sex I bloody DID think of you!!!!!!!

LOL Springchicken, I can't believe it either!

Thanks MotherInferior

aloha · 22/09/2004 21:44

Ah, but you won't need to ring him in the middle of the day as you clearly have rollicking sex life anyway . Bet you will be pregnant by end of October!

Thomcat · 22/09/2004 22:47

I wish Aloha! It's not that good! No, I think it'll take longer somehow. Don't know why but don't think it'll happen overnight. Or at least I hope it doesn't! Then again a July baby, hmm, that would be good! Oh look at me, I'm a mass of indecision!

aloha · 22/09/2004 23:28

!!!!
It has taken me this long to see that this thread was yours!
Obviously any woman who is a working mother of a small child, and can manage to have sex on a 'work morning' can cope with anything. You've ben hinting about it for ages - bet this morning was the one! oooh, how exciting, we were practically there with you! (esp CD - also v exciting!)

eidsvold · 23/09/2004 00:12

TC - don't worry about the money etc - remember I got pregnant as we were facing emigration to AUstralia - and no job in site for dh?!?!?! But we survived and will survive - dh managed to get a job that is a contract until May - then we have to see what happens.... and if you do that - you will never have no 2 .

Thomcat · 23/09/2004 10:23

LOL Blu! Sex on a work morning!!!!! Don't think we'll be doing much of that if baby no 2 does come along!

Hulababy · 23/09/2004 10:28

Not sure if anyone as put it on but have a look at \www.fertilityfriend.com\Fertility Friend too. As well as a temperature charting system, it also gives you other signs to look out for, such as CF and position of cervix.

Hulababy · 23/09/2004 10:29

Ooops, try again

Thomcat · 23/09/2004 18:10

Thanks. All a bit oo seriopus. hope I can leave it to fate and it just happens rather than having to start REALLY trying iykwim.
