Omega 3 fish oils safe if on aspirin & heparin?

Hi, my consultant is on holiday and his colleagues at the local fertility clinic and early pregnancy unit can’t give me a reassuring answer (“hmm, we think so...”) so thought I’d ask here! Are omega 3 fish oils safe to consume with aspirin and heparin? I understand fish oils are a natural blood thinner so wanted to check before heparin is added to protocol, hopefully next week. I’ve tried to find the answer in other threads but struggling! Thank you!

I don't know specifically but I'm under haematologist at Addenbrookes as I have a bleeding disorder (my blood doesn't clot) and I'm not allowed to take omega 3, aspirin or ibuprofen.

Thanks for commenting. I have a clotting tendency so it’s the other way around for me. Just keen to avoid too much blood thinning medication and supplements. This is our first pregnancy with medication following recurrent miscarriage so I’m a little on edge. I might email a private clinic that I’ve had tests through, see if they can help.

hi @ALifeMoreCurious. Appreciate this is an old thread, but I am trying to find the answer to the question you posed last year. Did you get an answer on whether it is safe to take omega 3 with blood thinnners? I am on 150mg for blood clotting issues.

I am on heparin and aspirin for blood clotting issues and I am taking the fish oils that come with the Pregnacare max...I am not certain but I think I have asked one of the obstetricians if that was ok and they said yes. I might ask again and if I get a clear answer I will post back...but I think it’s ok.
