I’m unsure what to do as I have been feeling unwell since Tuesday evening. I suddenly had a really sore bump at work, it was at the top of my bump above the belly button. I have never experienced this in past pregnancy. From last week I’ve had really bad heartburn constantly, I had to sleep sitting up and it has wakened me during the night. My bump has really swollen in size since Tuesday and I am feeling generally unwell. I have suffered from gastrointestinal issues in the past so I’m unsure if it’s my stomach playing up or something else. I have a constant pain in upper abdomen and severe heartburn just feeling generally unwell! My doctor has left a prescription for Omeprazole which I collect today. Should I start taking that and see how I get on or should I try to see a midwife or gp today?? I have also been feeling dizzy like vertigo.

I would ring your midwife and see if you could just have a general all round check up. Even if just to reassure you- or to check nothing else is going on for you. Hope you feel better soon and it turns out to be nothing.

I'd ring the hospitals pregnancy unit as these symptoms could be pre eclampsia and need urgently looking into.
It could be nothing but it isn't worth risking the lives of you and your baby

Thanks for your speedy reply pre eclampsia has crossed my mind also but the fact that I’m just 25 weeks has made me think it may just be my dodgy tummy! I think maybe it’s better to be safe than sorry as I am worried want to keep this little one in there as long as possible!!! Xx

How many weeks are you?
I had very sudden swelling and a sore bump. It turned out my fluid around the baby went up very quickly. Please give them a call, as I am now on fortnightly scans and have been since 26 weeks ( now 33)
It could be because of heartburn, I’m on omoperzole too, but it’s better to get it checked out.

@Mumsymum31, pre eclampsia can develop anywhere from 20 weeks so there's no such thing as just being 25 weeks unfortunately. The good news is it is offen very controllable and baby can stay put for a lot longer.
I had my son at 33 weeks due to this but I had severe sudden onset with pain, visual disturbances, migraine and extreme vomiting so he was born 4 days later as they couldn't control it. But to be honest with you only 0.01% of people get it that bad

SpadesOfGlory · 05/09/2019 08:48

Yeah please go get checked by a midwife just in case of something like pre eclampsia! However around that time I had a really sore bit on my bump pretty much where you describe and it was like a burning pain but the midwife just said it was my stomach muscles stretching. It was around for a few weeks but eventually went away!

MumsyMum31 · 05/09/2019 08:57

Thank you everyone @spadesofglory, yes it may be stretching but the unbelievable heartburn is making me think stomach too. I’m just waiting to ring midwife now when they open @9 xx
