What’s a healthy weight gain?!

Good evening ladies!

Quick question as I’m a bit concerned, before pregnancy I was 9st1lb I am now 21+4 and I weighed myself today for the first time (haven’t been weighed by midwife since) and am now 9st 7lbs so I have only put on 6lbs!!!
During my pregnancy so far I have been cleaning 3 hours a day 5 days a week for my job, I did suffer with sickness until 16 weeks but have always managed to keep food down, will eat when I’m hungry but have never been one to eat 3 massive meals a day more of a little and often eater, just concerned whether I’m putting on enough weight for my little baby girl!

Thanks in advance! Xx

The midwife would say if they were worried but you could also go the GP to have a chat, babies are parasites and will take what they need from you to your own detriment. I’m pregnant too (24 weeks) and have been very unwell with colds/ear infections/sinusitis, I’ve only put on a kg so far but neither my GP or midwife are worried as baby is growing.

Also your baby is still pretty small at this stage!

In total I’ve put on 4.5kg - I’m due tomorrow. My midwife was very pleased with the weight gain. Ive had severe sickness throughout and baby has been measuring perfectly so it’s obviously true that they take what they need from you!

I actually asked my midwife recently about weight gain. By 23wks I had already put on 10lbs, bump is small and I haven't put it on anywhere else. In my first pregnancy I had only put on 3lbs by 20wks (they weren't concerned) so it seems a lot to me this time. I put on just over 2 stone last time and they weighed me every now and again.

They haven't weighed me since booking in this time. She said they don't focus on weight gain now and will not be weighing me. Thought she might have said 10lb is fine and ur tiny anyway but she didn't say anything lol.

I'd say what you've put on is just about right, it's the last trimester that you should be putting it on faster. They used to say 2 to 2.5 stone was what you should put on don't know if that's still the same now.

You're fine - you would be seriously malnourished before the baby suffers. You may be one of those really lucky women who doesn't gain too much weight when you're pregnant - or you may be like me and pile it on a bit in the last trimester.

I seem to remember that baby's weight plus 10lb was the ideal weight gain during pregnancy - but I have no idea where that came from (!)

21+2 here and I’ve gained 6lbs so far 🙈 xx

Didn't even weigh myself. Baby is still quite small at 20ish weeks, most of the weight gain happens later on.

I have 13 weeks to go and I’ve put bloody 2 stone on!!! 😩

Sheep90 · 31/08/2019 08:41

I'm 18 weeks and havent gained an ounce. Baby is doing well though and I was overweight to begin with so I don't think anyone is worried. Every body is different; if you're keeping food and drink down and able to do what you need to do, I'd say don't worry 🙂

xsamix86 · 31/08/2019 08:48

I was 8 stone before I got pregnant. I'm now floating around 10 stone 3 with 7 weeks to go! I saved all my old Jean's to get back o to afterwards but may need to consider updating my wardrobe again 😂

I'm overweight so very interested to see how bigger I'm going to get... Eek

I put on 2 stone with both DS but lost it within a week or two. It was all water. I could leave dents in my legs with my fingers and my ankles disappeared 😂.

Also it was all mostly gained in 3rd trimester.
