Guesses welcome! First baby, had my scan today, 11+5 🙂 booked my early gender scan privately for 16w but thought I'd share and see if anyone cares to guess!!

@formerbabe is that based on any of the sort of theories that people speak about or complete random guess? Just keen to know 😃 as you can tell, I'm excited after having scan today!

Scans are hard - it’s much easier looking at the bump!

It's gender, my babies gender is a girl

Someone told me girls have rounder heads in the 16 week scan and it rang true with my boy and girl.

It looks like a boys head (but I doubt there's much evidence to back up this theory!)

Natalie - technically it’s sex because gender is ‘likes pink, dolls and cooking’ rather than XX or XY. Unless the baby pops out in a tutu, earrings and feather boa, we can stick to sex of the baby...

@LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD - I have heard that about the bump as well. I'm only 12w and no bump at all yet. I have booked in my early 'gender' scan for 16w, not long to wait now.

I know what some are saying about 'sex of the baby' as opposed to gender, but I'm not asking if my baby going to be coming out wearing a tutu or whatever else for a boy. That's not how I meant it to anyone else who wants to try jump title of my post.

I know, but sex vs gender is getting political these days and we need to reclaim the word sex!

Anyway - I can usually guess (not bad accuracy) from bumps and how much weight the mum puts on during pregnancy. I used to work with pregnant mums and my track record at guessing was pretty good!

@LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD I agree. This is my first child, I never ever thought or looked at it politically, but I guess that's me being sheltered to it.

I genuinely have no bump yet so that doesn't help! My weight has went up from 8.7stone (55.2kg) pre pregnancy to 9.3stone (59.1kg) at 12 weeks. Majority of this weight was put on in the first 10 weeks. But again, probs too early to even make anything of that! And height wise I'm just under 5ft3...
