I feel like shite 24/7

I'm 14 weeks and I just feel horrific all the time. This is my 3rd pregnancy.

Along with HG, heartburn, indigestion and
constant blocked nose, I also suffer with headaches and constipation because of the anti sickness medication I'm on.

Im exhausted all the time. It doesn't help that the blocked nose is stopping me sleeping.

Anyway, apart from all that, I just feel shit. I can't even explain what the problem is but it's just an all over ill feeling. If I wasn't pregnant, I'd be very concerned and think I was seriously ill. Sorry if that sounds dramatic but it's true. I didn't feel like this with my last two pregnancies.

Does anyone else feel like this? I spend all my time lying on the sofa, my poor kids don't get any attention from me and I physically am struggling to do anything. Surely this isnt normal?!

@cupcupgoose I'm feeling exactly the same. I'm suffering really bad with HG and meds aren't working as much as I would like so I just feel really nauseous still and totally exhausted. Terrible constipation from the meds and laxatives aren't helping much. This is my first pregnancy after an early miscarriage and I feel so ill. I had no idea I was gonna suffer this much. Anyone would think I have flu or something.

snowflakeeel · 23/08/2019 20:39

Hi @Cupcupgoose, on my third pregnancy here too. This has also been the worst 24/7 morning sickness out of all three pregnancies. I felt like I had the 24 hour bug/virus from 5.5 weeks to 16 weeks. Vomited 3-6 times a day and felt nauseous all the bloody time! Thankfully baby is healthy and fine and nausea completely went around 18 weeks. I'm 22+3 now and only nauseous if I don't eat in time. Hopefully it will subside for you also. X

CupCupGoose · 23/08/2019 20:41

How far along are you? What meds are you on? HG is awful, mine has got slightly better with the medication I'm on now but I then have to suffer with the side effects. So frustrating. I had HG with my first pregnancy but i didn't have all the other things too.

I feel the same. I'm 16 weeks with hg. Just hoping the symptoms ease a bit at 20 weeks like my last pregnancy.

abbs1 · 23/08/2019 20:51

I'm on Ondansetron as the cyclizine didnt work at all. I've been given lactulose as a laxative to try to help with the constipation but my tummy hurts so much and it's only just starting to work but that's only cause I've been told to lower my dosage of ondansetron which has only made me start throwing up again and the nausea ten times worse. I've had nausea even before I got by BFP and I starting vomiting at 6 weeks. I'm just over 8 weeks and it's been awful. I've been off work and just feel so crap. Nausea and vomiting night and day and just want it to stop.

Are you taking Pregnacare?

I felt a million times better when I stopped taking them. They made me feel like shite. It wasnt worth it.

Em39ma · 23/08/2019 21:27

I have HG and as PP had to stop pregnacare as it was making it so much worse. My Dr suddenly realised and told me to swap to just a vitamin D tablets, as I was past 14 weeks when she worked it out.
I’m 31 weeks now, and I still have HG it is so much better without the pregnacare.

abbs1 · 23/08/2019 21:34

That's really interesting what you say about pregnacare. I am taking that. Did you swap to just folic acid and vitamin d then? I may try that and see how I get on. I was told by the baby doctor at the hospital to carry on taking it when I was in hospital earlier in the week.

BEDinhalfanhour · 23/08/2019 21:51

Yes I swapped to folic acid and vitamin d.

I actually bought some Well Woman vitamins a few months ago for hair, skin & nails & the same happened again.T

They floored me, I was in bed by 7pm every night, weekends on the sofa & house looked a tip!

The lady in Holland & Barret said they are full of so many fillers & artificial things, that you would never know exactly what is causing it.

Her advice was dont take them.

Em39ma · 24/08/2019 05:25

I didn’t go on to folic acid as I was pass 12 weeks and the doctor said there’s no real benefit past that point, so only vitamin D.
I have allergies anyway, but didn’t even occur to me that I could react to vitamins.
But I have read a few times now that it is quite a common problem.
I hope you start to feel better, I’m in the last few weeks. So everything is just hard work and tiring.

Have your iron levels been checked? Mine only just dipped below the "normal" level but I felt terrible. Tablets and liquid iron supplements made me feel even worse (and if you have sickness already wouldn't be a good idea) but in the end I got an injection and no side effects just more energy and generally feel lots better. I'm 30 weeks in my third pregnancy now and I felt exactly like you describe.

CupCupGoose · 24/08/2019 11:45

Sorry that others are suffering too it's shit isn't it?

I haven't taken any vitamins as I can't stomach them. Weird how they've made some of you feel unwell!

I had iron levels checked at booking appointment at 6 weeks which were fine. Could that have changed in the space of 8 weeks? Sorry if that's a stupid question!

I've been sick a few times this morning but I don't want to take any anti sickness medication because I honestly can't cope with another horrific headache.

I've got to go into work for 2 hours today and just can't get off the sofa as I feel so drained and ill.

givememarmite · 24/08/2019 12:28

Yes your iron levels could (and probably are) go down over that period. Mine are tested every 4 weeks (not in the UK) and each time they were lower. After the injection they went up from 9.6 to 10.8 in just two weeks and I really noticed a difference.
I hope you manage to get through work ok today, but please go and speak to your GP or midwife and ask for it to be checked.

Bol87 · 24/08/2019 12:51

Iron drops quite dramatically. I’ve gone from borderline anaemia at my midwife appointment two weeks ago to quite badly anaemic at the hospital this week. I think once your stores are depleted & they aren’t being topped up as much, they just plummet. Anaemia makes you feel awful (along with everything else!)

I found stopping my pregnancy multivitamin has helped the nausea is both pregnancies. I switched to just folic acid & vitamin D3. I think in my case, it’s the type of iron in pregnancy multivitamins. I took the same form of just iron last time and was so ill. I switched to liquid iron and much better. Maybe worth a try..

Stuffy nose is common but a pain the the backside. Have you tried a salt water based nasal spray? They do help an awful lot - can get them in boots! Or these days, I use my daughters cool mist humidifier overnight. It’s a genuine miracle worker for clearing the nose during colds or indeed this!

Bol87 · 24/08/2019 12:53

Ps. Maybe ask for Laxido/Movicol as a laxative? I find it much better but you do have to drink a glass of water, so depends if you can keep it down?
