7 weeks and brown blood

Woke up today feeling 'normal' boobs no longer hurting and didn't feel unwell. Went out and while out I had a really bad cramp all across my belly. Thought I needed a number 2 so went home and yes had a number 2 but on wiping front tissue had brown discharge/blood. Long story short rang epu who said I needed a referral, went to my gp who has referred me and I have an appt at 5.20pm and have to attend with a full bladder.
Wish me luck, I'm so scared

Brown is usually old blood, from the remnants of your previous period, which is why the start of your period is often brown. If it’s bright red, I’d worry, but brown, not so much. Best of luck for later, but I think you’ll be fine x

Thank you for the reassurance. Yes it's only brown and only when I wipe so fingers legs and everything crossed

Hi @FirstPregnancy36yo,

I had a similar experience at 10 weeks and I was terrified as, my first pregnancy resulted in MC so, I can imagine how scared you are.

I just wanted to reassure you that, when this happened to me, I called the midwife, who asked me to go to hospital for a reassurance scan and our baby was happy as Larry, bouncing around like he/she was having the time of their life!

The midwife told me that this is very common and was nothing to be concerned about, even though there was no obvious explanation, she just said some women can bleed in their pregnancy but, baby was absolutely fine.

I am now 34 weeks pregnant and expecting to see baby on 3rd October.

Good luck, I'm sure everything will be fine! xx

I had it too around that stage with DS1 who's here driving me crazy at 5 yrs old. Hope all turns out well for you.

Good luck OP, you did well to get an appointment so quickly.

I had (what seemed like) an awful bleed last week at 8 weeks, I was truly convinced I'd miscarried but a scan showed a healthy baby wriggling away. So there's every chance you're fine. It's really common to bleed in pregnancy, it just feels very wrong and scary when it happens to you.

Hope everything goes well!

Thank you all. Update: they are only measuring me at 5.3 not the 7 we estimated at. They couldn't see much except there is a sac there. I have to go back in 10 days. They are hoping its implantation blood. Fingers crossed it sticks 🤞🤞🤞

Sorry OP when you say all still the same do you mean you've had more blood? If so is it the same colour and amount as yesterday?

FirstPregnancy36yo · 22/08/2019 18:08

@Jellycat1 still getting brown discharge / blood. Its not on the pad but only when I wipe. I did have one wipe of red, but back to brown blood now. Feeling sick today. Rang epu today and I've been told to relax and gotta wait for my rescan on 30th August

I had brown bleeding from 5-6 weeks (currently 16 weeks along) due to a sub-chorionic bleed underneath the babies sac. Had to be re-scanned by the EPU every few weeks as it was brown blood then heavy red bleeding then back to brown. Thankfully I’ve had no more bleeding of any colour since 12 weeks, it’s such a worrying time but if they could see a sac etc on the scan that’s great news. Fingers crossed for you op x
