I’ve had what I’d describe as a relatively straightforward pregnancy so far. I’m 21 weeks today and have had an upset stomach, was fine when I got up but after having some cereal I’ve had to go to the loo a couple of times. I’m wondering if the milk upset things a bit.
Anyway..... now I’ve got to this stage I’ve become a bit fixated on pre term labour and worrying about it. I STUPIDLY googled my upset stomach this morning and stuff came up on diarrhoea sometimes being a sign for pre term labour!
I normally wouldn’t worry about upset stomach but every little thing I worry something will go wrong. It’s my first and I suffer from anxiety anyway. Sorry just needed to vent 💜

In my experience (18mo ds, 2nd pregnancy, 29 weeks now) both constipation and diarrhoea are a typical part of pregnancy. On their own they are nothing to worry about, just make sure you're getting plenty of water and a good varied diet. I had one or the other almost throughout pregnancy, not fun, but still went to 41 weeks.

If you have any other symptoms of early labour then of course call your midwife straight away. And maybe if you feel you are worrying excessively, then chat to your midwife about that too, they can help.

@katmarie- thank you so much for your reassuring response. I have problems with my bowels anyway (IBS, severe endometriosis removed from bowel last year) so think they’re sensitive anyway.
Like I said... no other symptoms. Just anything new or different freaks me out!
I bought a pregnancy book but don’t think it’s suited for me, it doesn’t go in depth about symptoms. So I tend to “Google” for advice. X
