Due to top 35 degrees and 37 in inner cities like London.

Haven't seen anything on news about recommendations for pregnant women. Do you think it's reasonable to ask for flexibility with work and what are your tips for dealing with it?

I'm 19 weeks pregnant and so grateful I'm self employed at this point 😭 struggling is an understatement.

I find it crazy how there is no upper legal working limit in this country (but there id lower limit!) It's because we're not used to having such hot weather I think!

Does anyone know if there are any safety recommendations we can use or lool at?

Honestly I'm glad I'm only 28 weeks and still working. I've not felt the heat yet as I have been sat in an air conditioned office since 7am. Come 5pm it may be a different story, however!

I’m currently 39 weeks and super thankful I’m on maternity leave now. I’m just trying to stay inside as much as possible and drinking plenty of water.

I’m 28 weeks and finding it unbearable.
I’m sat in just a pair of knickers ( sorry TMI) with fan facing straight on to me. Last saw the temp in my lounge is still 31 degrees.
The dog keeps trying to lie on me, so she gets some of the fan. Keep pushing back on to the floor.

@Em39ma I feel you! 28 weeks and struggling. Just got back from physio for my back ache - clothes off, fan on

Had my GTT test today too, gave me a splitting headache. The hospital was just stifling, felt like passing out.
Did decide wasn’t fair if I striped off in the waiting room 😂

I hear you! I just joined our local Pure Gym (just round the corner to us) for their air conditioning 😂 - exercise may be currently limited to walking on a treadmill but the cool air is amazing 👍

I’m 37 weeks and still working, but I’ve purposely planned working shorter weeks since I hit 34 weeks. So that makes it easier for me personally.

WinterRose92 · 23/07/2019 18:03

God, I know! I’m 35 weeks pregnant and bloody hating this weather!
Thankfully just started maternity leave, I’m currently laying on the bed in my pants with the fan on, big glass of water with ice cubes next to me!

The general information I have found and my midwife said the same is drink lots of water to stay hydrated, have luke warm showers not cold, try stay in the shade and rest when you can. I don’t think there is a risk or harm just a general stay healthy same as if you weren’t pregnant. I’m head over heels in love with my fan at the moment though. Come straight in from work and lay in front of it almost daily at the moment! Grin

27 weeks here and today was a SWEATY day - I cleaned the bathroom and it was dripping off me 😓. After a cold shower and change of clothes, I drove to pick up dd from nursery, and the first thing she said as she hugged me was "you are so wet and sweaty, Mummy". It's unbelievable; I'm necking pints of water just to break even!
