Worried my bump is small

I'm 26 weeks but all people say to me that my bump is really small. Is a small bump ok? Should I be concerned 😟

Thanks

I really wouldn't worry! They'll start measuring at your 28 week appointment and it depends on so many things like baby's position, fluid levels etc too.
I'm 30 weeks and have people telling me I'm small too but I learnt from first time around to ignore them and not worry, at my appointment bump was right on track and movements are good so that's all I'm focusing on.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 17/07/2019 21:27

You look absolutely fine! Mine was so tiny that nobody knew I was pregnant unless I told them. My obstetrician told me I'd have a 3lb baby and that an incubator would be set up ready .... in fact she was 7lb. I only put on 10lb. People carry differently.

Muggymuggymugmug · 17/07/2019 21:28

My bump was really small.

I had to be induced as DD was overdue and the midwives kept saying it was small...

I ended up with a 9lb baby so not tiny!

The midwives will let you know if anything’s wrong in relation to your size

DevonshireDarling · 17/07/2019 21:41

I'm 34 weeks and my bump looks smaller than yours but my midwife isn't concerned. I would wait until they start measuring your bump. All pregnancies are different, some people show more than others, it also depends on amount of fluid etc and I think I look smaller because I have a longer torso and baby is 'hiding' more but honestly don't worry. Some days I get told I'm tiny and big...in the same day! It's all subjective, I wish people wouldn't comment on bump size as it can really worry women. You look fine to me Smile

I am also 26 weeks and my bump is quite compact and low. People love to tell pregnant ladies their opinion on their bumps.
I asked my midwife at my last appointment whether I should be worried that it’s too small. She basically said people need to stop sticking their oar in!!
Now if someone makes a comment about how small it is I say something like “yes, cute isn’t it?”

LauraPalmersBodybag · 19/07/2019 09:00

Op I’m 26 weeks tooand yours looks similar to mine. I’m currently measuring exactly right...despite various friends and family telling me mine is big!

Is this your first pregnancy? If so you'll have some nice strong muscles so that will affect how much you’re showing. Speak to your mw if you’re worried though x

faelavie · 19/07/2019 11:02

I'm 28 weeks tomorrow and I have a small bump too that looks similar to yours. Nothing to worry about. Midwife measured me last week and it's normal.
Some of us just don't show as big as others. It's been a bit of a blessing for me tbh as I can still fit in most of my normal clothes.

marinova · 19/07/2019 11:05

You have nothing to worry about :) I only just popped at 30 weeks. People couldn't even tell I was pregnant 2 weeks ago. Everyone carries differently and it takes longer if its your first

PetraRabbit · 19/07/2019 11:41

It's bigger than mine was at that stage. I'd say totally normal, very obviously bumpy and nothing to worry about.

Shaunieh95 · 20/07/2019 10:02

I think your bump is fine, I am 19 weeks and do not look pregnant (photo attached) with my 1st I was huge by now! Very true that wet pregnancy is different as both boys!

I wouldn't worry! Xxx

Buddytheelf85 · 20/07/2019 10:06

People love to comment on the size of pregnant women’s bumps and they usually talk a lot of nonsense.

Even if it is small, which it probably isn’t, that can mean nothing. My best friend had a small bump at 40 weeks and was induced because of it - she was told the baby would be around 5lbs. Her daughter was in fact over 8lbs!

Nearlyfriyay987654321 · 20/07/2019 10:16

People will comment whether your bump is big / small etc .... I think your bump looks spot on to be honest. It’s a lovely sized bump!

If it happens to measure small though the midwife will pick up on this at your 28 week appointment.

I’m 32 weeks and only slightly bigger than your bump but a diff shape, I was small with my first and have growth scans with this one due to my first being small.

qj17 · 20/07/2019 10:57

@lliy your bump is fine! You're bigger than I was when I gave birth everyone's bodies carry differently you look great.

Poppins2016 · 20/07/2019 11:02

My bump actually was small based on fundal height (I always measured ten weeks behind) and I kept being sent for growth scans which were always fine (my baby was a healthy 7 lbs)! Our bodies are all different.

MrsxRocky · 20/07/2019 13:10

I wouldn't say your small.
Depending who you speak to I'm either massive it very neat.
I'm a size 6 to 8 and still wearing my normal clothes. Apart from Hugh waisted jeans obvs

Mamabear12 · 20/07/2019 13:18

Your bump looks very normal to me. Everyone carries different. My bump always is small, and I tend to gain weight everywhere else! ESP the boobs. My babies both came out 6lbs and I’m pregnant w third and bump is small. I understand how you feel though as everyone makes comments to me, including the midwife! I came in 16 weeks and she assumed it was my first and I said no, it’s my third and she responds “OMG! It’s your third?!” Like complete shock. Then others have commented as well how they can’t see a thing. But there is a bump (tiny one). I do worry sometimes and at 20 week scan I will feel less worried. But pp 19 week photos makes me feel better, as it shows you can be that far along w out obvious bump.

Triskaidekaphilia · 20/07/2019 20:01

I think that looks fairly normal esp. if it's your first, this is me at 28 weeks and didn't get much bigger til a growth spurt at 30. Now at 39 weeks I feel huge but am quite mobile despite PGP so it's not neccessarily a disadvatage.

Your midwife will start measuring you soon so if there are any concerns they will check, but small bump doesn't mean small baby or anything bad. I was measuring a little small at 32 weeks so they sent me for a scan only to find out baby was on the 95th centile! She's now around the 80th and due any day now Grin
