Flopped onto bed very hard 13+4 weeks

Hi everyone, I haven’t posted to mumsnet before. I feel like such an idiot, I woke up in the middle of the night and got up to shut a window (loud cats) and flopped down on the bed really hard onto my side. I’m 13 weeks pregnant with my first child and my side hurt (upper side, not the side I fell onto) when I did it. It’s twinged a couple of times since. I’m really worried I’ve done something to the baby or my placenta. I’m a fairly anxious person anyway and being pregnant has amplified this but I can’t believe I did something so stupid. Has anyone else done anything similar? Do you think I should call the doctors? Thank you for any advice!!

I’m sure you’ll be fine. I fell spectacularly when I was pregnant, ripping my favourite maternity trousers and the baby is 18 soon. I don’t think you need to call the doctor, I’d just get ready for work as normal.

Your bed has got a mattress on it. You dropped down a very very short distance onto a soft surface. You’ll be fine.

And no, you don’t need to call a dr.

Thank you! I really appreciate your advice!! I’m a panicker and these early weeks have been stressful. I just need to tell myself not to panic at the small stuff. Thank you!

Falling onto your side, onto a mattress- fine! You probably just twinged a muscle tensing your stomach muscles as you fell.
At 13 weeks the baby is small enough to swim in lots of lovely fluid. It’s great protection!
I’ve had two and my second baby was poked and prodded by his big sister as a bump, and she once fell on me- all was fine! They now poke each other constantly as siblings...
it’s normal to worry as your little bump is so precious, but relax in this instance 😊

Your baby is still pretty low down in your pelvis at this point as well, it definitely wouldn't have been anywhere near the point of impact. Everything is a bit looser when you're pregnant though so, although I can't see how it could have hurt your baby, do take a bit more care not to hurt yourself.

You'll be fine.
I fell off my bike at a similar point and I remember the panic. That was not a soft landing! All was fine.
