32 weeks being sent for growth scan

Hi all.
Had 32 week midwife appt today.

For background we are having extra scans for something else, but they have been measuring baby as a bonus. I have 1dc who was born at 41 weeks at 7.5lbs

There is a growth chart in my notes and I understand it is personal to you-ie age, height, weight and previous baby.

At 26 week scan growth was measured and I was plotted at about 25th percentile, at 28 week scan growth was measured and I was plotted at 50th centile.

Now at 32 midwife appt my bump is measuring at 32cm-so from googling this it looks normal to me as the guide is that you should roughly measure same cm as weeks. However they have plotted me at 90th centile and referred me for a growth scan.

I know the scans are more accurate than bump measurements, and I suppose I just need to wait and see what scans say.

But to anyone with experience does it look like i am on track for a big baby? Is the increase in centiles normal?

I know I should just be worried about having a healthy baby, but I feel like I did quite a bad job of coping with delivering my 7.5lb baby, and the thought of this one being big has added to my stress (we have quite a few things going on in addition to the pregnancy).

Thank u to anyone who reads

They thought mine was going to be huge. The sonographer pulled a face. He was 7lbs 12 oz

I had a growth scan this week (32 + 4) because my bump has been growing slightly faster than my personalised curve but it was very marginal. Big bump does not equal big baby though - my bump is now on the 95th percentile but baby is on the 45th (I think) generally apart from a slightly larger head. I have excess fluid which is why the bump is bigger but the sonographer wasn't concerned at all.

This is pretty much what has happened to me at my 36 week appointment. Different midwife measured bump not to have grown much, went for scan ( the same day ), apparently baby had grown loads! Been sent for a glucose test today and spoke to a doctor who said hopefully baby will come early or with a sweep at 39 weeks then induction if I get to 40+5
First baby was also 7.5lb!

Thank you for your replies ladies.

Went for scan this morning. She said all in normal range, but still showing as around 90th centile. She reckoned baby currently weighs around 5lbs. But internet suggests they grow at least half a lb each week and I have 7.5 weeks left.

I really dont feel reassured by this Confused

That sounds about normal to me - mine was estimated at just under 5lbs at 32 weeks and they said he was average in every way (other than a big head). I think the percentiles are so personal that it doesn't mean that much.

Thanks so much for the reply. That helps a bit. Yep looking at all the markers she seems to be pretty average for most things except quite a big tummy, and slightly longer than average legs.

1/2 a pound a week growth is only in the last 4 weeks. The growth scans can be wrong by 15% each way. If the growth scan is of concern then they will want you to do 2 more growth scan at 2 week intervals.
