follicles not growing big enough

I’ve been stimulating since 17/06/19 I was on a short protocol I was put on 150 Pergoveris and 250 of FonaL F. I had scan on 21/06/19; I had two big follicles and a lot of small ones. They lowered by Gonal F to 150 and started me on Fyremadel 250 (evenings).
I had another scan today 24/06/19, the two follicles, which were growing, have jumped up even more and the small ones are still not growing. The nurse said its like my body is not responding to the medications and is ovulating normally.
I’m going back on Wednesday to find out exactly how bad this news is.
Has this happened to anyone? I asked the nurse if there is something I can do to help the follicles grow but she said its just one of these things. I’m starting to worry and wondering if it will work at all.

Thank you ladies

Hi there OP,

We hope you're OK Flowers Hopefully someone who can help might see this thread if we give it a little bump for you.

Suggest moving this to infertility, you’ll get better responses

AnyaMumsnet · 25/06/2019 15:51

Hi again OP,

As @Teddybear45 has suggested, do let us know if you want this moved to infertility too - we'd be happy to move it over.

Yes please can you move it for me. Thank you

Hi op - not sure you’ll see this as the thread has been moved. This happened to me on the short protocol, only I had one large dominant one and some smaller. Basically I didn’t really respond to the meds and my main follicle which would have been the dominant one during my natural cycle anyway (I didn’t suppress my natural cycle ) basically took over. They were keen to cancel this cycle , however, it was my last shot at a sibling for my FET daughter so we decided to proceed. I only ended up with 4 eggs at collection, so asked to have the imsi procedure so that we could get the best shot possible at success. We then had 2 embryos to transfer and one of those was no good - the embryologist said he might as well transfer it with the other one instead of binning it 😬. Miraculously the cycle was a success - we now have another daughter who is 3. I look at her and know how amazing it is that she’s here. I think she must have come from that one dominant follicle 🤣. Quality over quantity- don’t forget that . Good luck xx

Thank you @Plsnomorepeppapig thats very encouraging. I had lost all hope and was preparing myself for the worst. I feel positive now.

And a big congratulations on the birth of your daughter. Amazing miracle.

I have my appointment this afternoon to see if there has been any improvement.xxx

Let us know how it goes. It is likely that your big follicles would have been there anyway on your natural cycle - the meds are added to try and boost the number of follicles but sometimes the dominant ones can overpower the others. Good news is though that your body selects the best eggs to mature so hopefully the ones in your bigger follicles are the better quality

Oh and thank you for the congratulations- it’s been a long hard slog to get my children but it soon fades into a distant memory.
