Being told how big I am

I didn't really show until I was about 20 weeks. I am 28 weeks now and I finally understand why people get annoyed at being told things like "wow your looking big now" and "you sure it's not twins!?" I just think it's so rude. No one would ever normally comment on someone's size (to their face anyway) so why is it ok to do it to a pregnant woman?

I am usually pretty confident but I was at a family party today where everyone was commenting (I did have a fitted dress on) and I started to feel really self conscious!

Can you practise dramatically bursting into tears? It won’t stop I’m afraid! Congratulations though Flowers

It doesn't stop as PP says, but I can reassure you it's also horrendous when ppl express the opposite: 'Oh you're so small,' 'You can't be that far along', 'You're really tiny' and I even had a comment about the size of my 'tiny baby' Sad
DD came out 8lb7oz and MWs were absolutely happy with me the whole way through.

I'm currently 34+6 and it's happening again Angry

@DontBuyANewMumCashmere well that's the thing...because I didn't show for a while I kept getting "oh you don't even look pregnant" which was making me feel worried like something wasn't right and now it's the opposite! Would be nice if people just stopped at congratulations wouldn't it!

Yes it is annoying.
I'm PA when provoked and I said to a few people Oh no, do you think there might be something wrong with my baby?! That's weird as the MWs seem happy...
That shut that person up!

Pinkmouse6 · 22/06/2019 20:40

‘Oh it’s not actually a baby in there, I just love donuts!’

I did start saying this when the comments kept coming during my pregnancies. I had very large babies so got it a lot, it’s so annoying. I loved watching people’s faces drop Grin.

@Pinkmouse6 I did do that today! The party I was at had a tonne of cake and I just said to them I've just eaten a lot of cake and kept a very blank face haha!

It's really annoying and part of the whole pregnant women as public property IMO! But just to reassure you, remember that they are talking about your bump, not you overall.
