Did you ‘have a feeling’ before labour started?

My due date was yesterday with my second daughter, nothing yet! My first daughter was 3 days late. I remember going to bed the night before labour started feeling ‘different’ like something was happening... but so far, nada with this one. So how was it for you ladies!? Did you have a feeling or Did it come on suddenly!?

I ‘knew’ with both mine (both 40+4). Felt sort of unsettled I guess for a good while before developing into the real deal.
Good luck Flowers

OoohSmooch · 01/06/2019 22:09

I didn't believe all that but I totally got a different feeling and then 12 hours later my contraction started! 48 hours later she made an appearance 🙈

claptomania · 01/06/2019 22:15

Yes! A very low level background feeling, a bit like the start of a period, that slowly grew and grew into contractions.

FunInTheSun2019 · 01/06/2019 22:30

Nope not on the day I went into labour, but I cleaned non stop for four days straight before I went into labour (I mean non stop, ridiculous cleaning and sorting! Even if I had a odd mug to the rest it was binned!) my mum said she should of realised, it was about to happen as I was nesting as they say!

Sunshine1235 · 01/06/2019 22:34

Nope not at all, I had some cramp feelings but had been having them for days so didn’t think it meant anything, sent my husband out for the morning and then hurriedly sent him a text an hour later saying he should probably come home 😂

kbPOW · 01/06/2019 22:38

Yes definitely. I was early but knew it was coming.

Wineloffa · 01/06/2019 22:41

Yes I felt very unsettled and a bit on edge. I couldn’t sleep the night before my waters broke and was up and down all night. They broke in the shower the following morning.

Baloonphobia · 01/06/2019 22:43

I had 'feelings' before both mine. Both times I was totally wrong and hung on for a few weeks. I was imagining feeling all over the place.

Stiffasaboard · 01/06/2019 22:44

Each time I had a horrible unsettled night of nausea and weird pains and totally unable
to get comfortable or even rest and the first pregnancy I panicked that it was labour and I would never endure it.
Horrible every time.

Settled after the one night/evening then had 48hrs of calm and energy and then labour started textbook with gentle regular contractions late evening and I delivered early hours between 4-6am

Happened for four pregnancies- four times exactly the same. So weird.

WhispersOfWickedness · 01/06/2019 22:55

Nope, absolutely no different! But then the first was induced and the second started with waters breaking, not contractions Grin

CrackersDontMatter · 01/06/2019 23:01

My first two were induced but with the 3rd and 4th I felt completely and utterly fucked off. The most fucked off I have ever felt in my entire life. I’m generally quite a happy person but It was like PMT on steroids during the day then labour started that night.

Wineloffa · 01/06/2019 23:03

And the day before I went into labour I cleaned the house from top
to bottom and went on a 3 mile walk!

duebaby2 · 01/06/2019 23:14

Nope. Although I probably missed a big sign which was having a clear out, but I know some of that was partially to do with baby facing the wrong way and directing the pressure that should have been on my cervix to the pressure being on my bowels. I'd been in hospital being monitored three days prior, I was having contractions but I couldn't feel them. So was probably in early labour without even knowing it.

I just woke up one night with really bad cramps and knew I was in labour after the third pain came and went.

DavenotChas · 01/06/2019 23:21

I felt 'off' the day before my waters broke, but I didn't realise it was the beginning of labour. I felt hungover (which obviously I wasn't) As in I was lethargic and nauseous with a horrendous headache. It was only later that evening when the floodgates opened that I thought Aha! (2nd baby, 2 weeks overdue- really should have recognised the signs Blush)...

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 01/06/2019 23:24

Yes, I got a sudden burst of energy that lasted a few days. I hate being pregnant almost all of the time but I felt great.

Mrsmummy90 · 02/06/2019 01:36

The night before my waters broke, I was really irritable but other than that, nothing.
Everything was as normal and then I woke up to bad cramps, assumed I needed the toilet and my waters broke.

Halo84 · 02/06/2019 01:42

With my first, my water broke while I was sleeping. I had no inkling. My water broke while I was sitting on the couch with my third.

My second was induced.

JaJu14 · 02/06/2019 06:20

Nope it was the day after my due date I was settling down for the night in bed but kept needing to pee every 2 minutes then my waters went before I could run to.the toilet in time then contractions started Smile

milkshak3 · 02/06/2019 07:28

nope and they were all about 2 weeks overdue.

keepingbees · 02/06/2019 08:35

Mine were all different. First baby I couldn't sleep, woke up feeling off and upset stomach. Had a midwife appointment and my blood pressure was really high. Waters broke that night.
Second baby I was overdue and had really bad back ache the day before. Woke up in the early hours in labour.
Third baby I felt was overdue again. Had had two sweeps a week apart that had made me feel edgy, crampy and hormonal. Had two nights of not being comfortable in bed or able to sleep, severe nausea and upset stomach. On the second night I finally went into labour.

Pinkvoid · 02/06/2019 11:05

No, I had a ‘feeling’ every day from about 36 weeks tbh Grin. I woke up feeling the same as ever then suddenly started with pains.
