Zika at home test kit recommendations

Hi!

This is my first post so I hope I am doing it right!

I have just returned from a trip to south east Asia, the countries we went to all are classified as being at risk from Zika. My partner and I took lots of precautions and I don't think I got bit at all although we think he may have got bitten one, so I think the risk of us contracting Zika are pretty low. However, we want to TTC straight away so to be on the safe side, it is probably worth us having a private test. I just wondered if anyone has any recommendations for reasonably priced test kits? I have found one online for £145 each which we will pay if necessary but if anyone has found cheaper that would be fab given the risk seems to be so low.

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi,

I went to the Maldives in Jan for honeymoon which had Zika and neither of us got bitten but we didn't want to risk trying just in case. I spoke to the doctors about it and they said the tests don't 100% pick up Zika so always a risk.

The NHS have dropped the wait down to 3 months before TTC so if you can wait that long then I would recommend that. You just need to use condoms for the next 3 months as it can be sexually transmitted.

All Zika tests have a high risk of false negatives. I had to wait 6 months to start trying following then NHS guidelines. You can have been bitten and not know or show signs, I really wouldnt risk it.
