Stomach bulge and possible hernia

So I'm currently 22 weeks and today I have noticed that when I go from leaning back to sitting up or whenever I tense my stomach I have a very large burge in the centre down my stomach. When I googled this it came up with diastasis recti. I also found that it said this can cause a hernia. I have had a large solid lump appear inside my belly button a few weeks ago. Do you think they could be related and do you think it is worth calling the midwife about. I have an appointment in 3 weeks time anyway so I can always mention it then

Hmmm - my stomach also does that. Domes kind of like a triangle when I use those muscles. I can't say for definite not knowing you, but not sure your muscles would have separated that early - however it's extremely common so likely to happen at some point. If you are worried, call the midwife - it's what the numbers for, but I think probably all OK👌

Thanks @RMarieClaire my baby is very large for how far along I am and my stomach is a lot bigger than it would usually be so it might be a possibility. Thank you for answering x

I've had the same thing in both pregnancies, midwives never had any concerns around it so presuming it's not dangerous.
Mention it at your next appointment to be on the safe side though.
