Hi everyone,
I'm 27 weeks pregnant with my second child and I'm having the most horrible pelvic pains, and all around my legs. I can't walk far cos of the pain and sitting is painful.
I have a muscle disorder and suspected Fibromyalgia so I am quite used to pain but this is limiting me even more 😩
It's bank holiday in the UK tomorrow so doubt I'll be able to contact my midwife but I'm booked in to see her on Thursday. Do I wait till I see her and try and manage or is it more serious to try and get an appointment with her on Tuesday??
Thanks everyone 😊😊😊

I had awful pgp. My midwife was pretty useless. In my area you can refer yourself to physio, I was seen within a couple of days. Tbh there was little they could do for me, I had an existing back problem and a pelvis which is a bit wonky and I was in huge amounts of pain for the last five months of my pregnancy. I’m now 3 weeks postnatal and seeing my physio next week, hopeful they’ll be able to do more to help me now as I’m still in pain but my mobility has improved dramatically. As far as things you can do to help yourself, I’d buy a gym ball and ask around if anyone has crutches you can borrow as when I needed them, it happened very suddenly. I was given a large tubigrip style bandage by the physio which I found very uncomfortable at first but the bigger my bump got I did get some relief from wearing it. One thing I did do that I think helped, was try and keep on top of my weight gain. I joined slimming world at about 10 weeks pregnant as I put on far too much weight in my previous pregnancies and had had spd with them too, though not to the level I had this time. I figured any extra weight would exacerbate any problems that did occur. I put on 15lbs the whole pregnancy and am already lighter than I was pre pregnancy, back in all my old clothes. I dread to think how much worse it would have been if I’d put on 4 stone like I did in my first two pregnancies!

Have you got a number for the physio dept in your maternity notes? If so, ringing them for an appointment will be your best bet as they will be able to manipulate your pelvis and give you exercises to do.

Midwife won’t be able to do much - they will recommend taking paracetamol regularly and contacting your GP if you need stronger painkillers.

I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago and the midwife recommended a support belt to wear whilst I wait for my physio appt. I bought this one and it has worked well: www.amazon.co.uk/MamaSnug-Pregnancy-Support-Maternity-Belly/dp/B07FZLMVT2/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?s=gateway&keywords=mamasnug&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1557073718&sr=8-1

Hope that helps!
