Period like pains

I'm 36 weeks pregnant and I've been having low period like crampy aches since about 5 this morning.
This is my first baby so just wondering if this is normal for this stage of pregnancy? No point me calling triage as I'm not in agony, hoping it means things are moving in the right direction and I won't have an overdue baby !
Thanks in advance

As you are before 37 weeks then I would ring triage. At 36 weeks your baby’s lungs are not yet developed enough and if you are in early labour then you may need steroids.

Have you tried having a nice bath?

I think crampy pains etc are quite normal at this stage if manageable and not with any other symptoms eg bleeding or contractions.

I'd try a nice soak in the bath and see if the cramps ease off. If they don't and get worse, maybe just check in with your midwife just as a precaution.

Ive got a few weeks to go and I've been having crampy pains which have eased off BUT my previous labour did start off this way too so worth keeping an eye on.

Thanks guys, I called triage and they asked me to come in, they monitored the baby and he seems fine but I'm waiting for a doctor to examine me, fingers crossed it's just normal pains Smile

I have this also at 35 weeks ,exactly like period pain and keep getting the odd painful BH but nothing regular , how did you get on ?

LadySray · 01/05/2019 23:58

@sh13 well I'm home now , I have a UTI which could explain the pain and they want me to come back for another scan next week, it's worth calling them if you are worried Smile

I’m glad your sorted now. You have 5 weeks before your over due so don’t try not to get hung up on your EDD.
