5+3 and bleeding

4th cycle of IVF and we were overjoyed to get our BFP. Today at 5+3 I had some sharper cramps than normal and now I'm bleeding - it's bright red, like a light period. I'm terrified - I can't stop tears from rolling down my face. DH is on his way and we're going to the Early Pregnancy Unit on the advice of the fertility clinic, but because I'm so early they won't scan me, will they? Probably just do bloods to check my hormones?

This can't be happening - I don't know if I can pick myself up and go through this all again.

@RedPandaFluff good luck.

Everything crossed for you OP.
I had bleeding throughout pregnancy, from 8 weeks right up until I was induced at 37 weeks. It took for a locum consultant to do an examination at 26 weeks to find I had ectropion, which was thankfully harmless to myself and baby. It healed itself once I had given birth.
I hope you get good news, and that it's nothing to worry about x

Thanks everyone x

I had the scan and it's a bit inconclusive, which I guess is to be expected at this stage. The sonographer could see a yolk sac in the right place, but no heartbeat as it's a little early (5+4), and no obvious cause of the bleeding. So she couldn't confirm viability but equally it's as normal as it can be for this point of development.

I feel a little better - I would have loved to have seen a heartbeat, but the news could have been much worse at the same time. I just need to wait and hope. I have a scan next Wednesday at the fertility clinic so I'll be praying for a little heartbeat then.

Good news that everything is on track with your dates @RedPandaFluff. Such a scary time, keeping my fingers crossed that you have good news next week.

Take it easy, get done rest and look after yourself Flowers xx

@RedPandaFluff please don't worry and I hope for the best. I remember they said that 6 weeks is the earliest to see a heartbeat. (I had the scan at 5 -no heartbeat - bleed and a week later at 6 weeks heartbeat) wonder if you had two embryos as if one was visible the second might be a cause of bleeding. My DD sits next to me so I really hope for a positive outcome for you.

Hi @RedPandaFluff just thought I’d share I had a bleed at 5+4 went to epu at 5+6 for scan and like you a sac and yolk sac was present but nothing else! They said to go back in two weeks which was a horrible wait as had another bleed 4days after first bleed. But 2 weeks after that first scan we saw a little embryo with a super strong heartbeat and had no more bleeding since. My bleeding was red and a fair bit of it so I was so worried. Really hoping you get to see a heartbeat at your next scan.

That's so reassuring - you're all such lovely ladies!
I think I would have properly cracked up by now if it hadn't been for mumsnet and kind people taking the time to share their experiences!
