Sex during pregnancy

Hi,

I know this may sound like a silly question, but I've had 2 recurrent miscarriages and wanted to ask if it's okay to have unprotected sex during pregnancy? Should I hold off until I reach the 2nd trimester or is it okay?

I looked this up the other day. Some sites said semen can soften the cervix. Some said contractions in the womb could possibly affect things. It said its best to check with your dr/widwife/etc and once they give you the all clear its ok to go ahead, because there are some conditions where you shouldn't.
