Weird issue with brushing teeth!

Hi everyone,

I've discovered that I really don't like my mint toothpaste (even though it is the least minty one I can find as don't like mint generally).
I thought it was the smell as I was gagging every time I brushed my right side.
I swapped to a different flavour toothpaste, but still gag every time I brush my teeth, to the point I can only last about a minute brushing and it never seems very thorough.
I have emetophobia (fear of feeling/being sick) and anxiety as well and so this makes it all worse!

Anyone else experienced this? Will it get better?

Thanks everyone for your comments. I bought some listerine that wasn't mint flavoured, although forgot I had it till now so I think I'll continue doing what I can and if it's a bad day, add that in as an extra. I tried humming the other day on the bad side and surprisingly helped. Tried it this morning and got a bit carried away with it and forgot to spit. Nearly choked! haha. That'll teach me!

I'm sick everyday after brushing my teeth. 10 weeks Oregon. I don't think it's weird. It's just part and parcel of morning sickness. Unpleasant-yes. Weird-no.

*pregnant not Oregon

30 weeks and sick every morning and evening when brushing my teeth, regardless of electric/manual or choice of toothpaste (have about 7 abandoned ones in the bathroom cabinet!). Mouthwash has been a bit of a stopgap for ages. I had thought that this is to do with hyperemesis, which I also have, but clearly or. Thank you for the humming tip, I will try it tonight!
