Real Nappy Week 2019

Hi all, I understand it is 'real' or reusable nappy week this week. There are a number offers coming up I figured it might be helpful to discuss offers and discounts you've seen and share them in one place. 😊

So far I've spotted Little lambs have got a 30% off refer a friend scheme in place for this week. To use this you follow a friends link to get the 30% off discount. Mine is below: i.refs.cc/jLtE09sg?smile_ref=eyJzbWlsZV9zb3VyY2UiOiJzbWlsZV91aSIsInNtaWxlX21lZGl1bSI6IiIsInNtaWxlX2NhbXBhaWduIjoicmVmZXJyYWxfcHJvZ3JhbSIsInNtaWxlX2N1c3RvbWVyX2lkIjoyODU3NTQ0NTV9

I've also seen that cheeky wipes have 25% off everything, so even if you're not tempted by cloth diapers - reusable wipes can save some cash and they also sell reusable breast pads, sanitary towels and muslins. They can be found at www.cheekywipes.com

Have you see any other offers, or have experience using any of the cloth nappy brands?

@swiftfox the nappy lady suggests 40 wipes for full time use. I've got 50 although haven't put them into use yet, so don't know how long that would take you between washes.

Thanks @GemmaJen I might do the basic kit of 25, plus an extra 10 to see how it goes and how I get on with them! I am probably one of those not-so-organised ones and will opt for disposable ones when on the road, so no need for wetbags/travel bags etc!

GinMama1 · 25/04/2019 15:51

Swiftfox we started with one pack of 25 for nappies, and ended up with a second. Until we used resuable nappies we always used wet wipes out and about because we didn't have a wet bag.

I got on well with all in one nappies, I picked up brand new ones at the NCT Nearly New Sales, and didn't find much difference between tots bots, little lamb, and lollipop nappies....but dd was a heavy wetter so needed boosters.
Re-wipes I just used flannels from home bargains, and kept them slightly damp in a water tight Tupperware box, and a zip up wet bag for the dirty ones. Things may have changed since I did real nappies though Smile

What do people recommend for boosters, there seems to be so much choice? Hemp, bamboo, microfibre, charcoal, mixed fabrics, multi layer... The list goes on!?

Bamboo boosters for daytime, hemp for night time.
Don’t get microfibre wipes - they feel horrible and shed microplastics. Bamboo velour much nicer for weaning.

Thank you for all the tips! I've got some nappies from Lizzie's and some wipes from Cheeky Wipes so starting to feel set up for a June arrival.
