Do I not worry about reduced movements before 28 weeks

Baby's definitely moved a lot less today, I'm 24+4. Do you not ring them before 28 weeks for this sort of thing?

You can still ring but they may say they don’t really expect a pattern just yet.

When I phoned around then I was told to have a cold drink, lie on my left in a dark room and see what movements I got.

If I was still concerned was to phone them back.

Phone call won’t do any harm !

You ring if you have reduced movement after 24 weeks, your baby is viable at this gestation and can be helped if there is a problem. Having said that not all babies have a recognisable pattern to their movements at this point that you can monitor. However if you are concerned the movements are less than normal call the midwife and get seen.

You can ring - I did at 25 weeks and I went in for them to listen to the heartbeat. They can't do a ctg monitoring at this gestation though, as they would do later in pregnancy.

Yes you still ring before 28 weeks. They likely won't put you on a monitor but should at least check baby's heartbeat

In the meantime have a cold drink and lie on your left hand side, see if that gets baby moving

I went in at 26 weeks as my baby is usually very predictable on movements and wasn’t for 2 days. They asked me to go into the hospital, checked heartbeat and my blood pressure, HR, urine etc. Told me if she hadn’t moved more the next day to go back in. She was fine the next day though luckily but they took it very seriously as her movements were already quite routine so it was obvious when she wasn’t moving.

Thank you I've been in and they've checked baby. All is wellSmile
