Hi guys, would really appreciate some help...

On the 25th February 2019 I suffered a miscarriage at 11 weeks 6 days (although unsure of when baby actually died). I was in hospital and had a d&c, as I was an emergency case they didnt test my hcg levels at all.

On the 5th March 2019 I did a home pregnancy test 20ml which came up negative.

Then on 20th March I did a first response test which gave me a faint positive... all tests I have done since then are showing them same thing (not sure if line is getting darker)

Me and my partner have been sexually active and not using protection since the miscarriage, however I haven't had a period yet either.

Docs told me to wait 2 weeks and test again to see if it's a new pregancy or levels from miscarriage.

Could really use help! Going out my mind not knowing!

I’m sorry for your loss
I lost a baby at 12 weeks and got pg 1 week after my D&C
I didn’t realise until my period hadn’t returned after 8 weeks and I did a test, which was positive. I did another one at 10 weeks and also the GP sent me for a dating scan
To be honest it was psychologically very hard but DD is 14 now and awesome x

It’s really very possible that you are pregnant again. You wouldn’t need to have a period to resume fertility, although many women do have a wait if a few weeks before hormones settle into rhythm again.

I’m very sorry for your loss, how heartbreaking for you. This baby must be very wanted. Try not to get your hopes up too much, just in case, but I’d advise you to start planning as if you were pregnant again. Congratulations xx

As you got a negative test 2 weeks earlier, this is likely to be a new pregnancy.

Best to compare tests 48h apart to see if line is getting darker, though I must stress darkness of line does not tell you hCG level - a hCG test is just a yes or no, it's not quantitative. Faint does tend to mean you are on the cusp, though.

Really hoping I'm pregnant but so scared to get my Hope's up just in case!

Rang early pregnancy assessment unit yesterday who said that it's likely to be a new pregnancy and my previous hcg levels should have gone down to normal by now but no way to be 100% sure as they never tested...

Also docs wont do hcg tests for me until another 2 weeks

First test was 20ml sensitivity and second test is 7.5ml sensitivity which is why I'm questioned whether it was just a false negative and they're still leftover hcg in my system

Ah right - sorry I thought both tests same sensitivity. I'd maybe try with internet cheapies in that case.

Omgchloex · 25/03/2019 17:20

So far internet cheapys and clear blue both saying negative, only first response early detection that is giving me a positive :(

I've heard some criticsm of those 7.5 mg tests because they are a bit too close to the non-pregnant level of 5 mg. So they can sometimes give false positives. Sorry to have been positive in previous post and then changed my mind though :(

Pashazade · 25/03/2019 17:43

Entirely possible. I miscarried at 9 weeks early November. I was pregnant again early December. Fingers crossed for you 💐

Omgchloex · 25/03/2019 17:45

UPDATE! just did an internet cheapy 10ml sensitivity and there is an extremely faint positive, didnt have a positive on a cheapy until now

Fingers crossed!

Ooh good luck :)

Exhsuatedmuch · 25/03/2019 21:37

Same happened to me. A loss at around 8 weeks and four weeks later I felt pregnant still, still feeling sick and sore boobs etc. Doctors said it was left over hormones.. She turns 10 soon!!! It was a difficult pregnancy coming so soon after losing a baby but if its meant to be then it will be. Good luck.

Omgchloex · 26/03/2019 08:56

Just tested again with FMU and still a very very faint positive, cant tell if they're getting lighter or darker though and the previous ones have gotten darker over the days :(

UPDATE brown spotting this morning, nit sure if it's my period or spotting as tests are still showing a faint positive! Please help

Can you have a period when there is still hcg in your system? Or is it spotting?

Hormones are all over the place for a while after a miscarriage but since you had a D&C the HCG levels drop very quickly. I was told to test a month after my D&Cs and if they were positive, I should go back in because it could be retained products. You had a negative test a fortnight after the d&c so chances are, this is a new pregnancy.

Brown spotting can be implantation.

Omgchloex · 28/03/2019 11:30

What can explain the fact that only early response are giving positives but other tests aren't? Even today when I noticed the brown discharge negative tests apart from first response
