Hi. I’m 42 and have just discovered I’m pregnant. I’ve had 2 miscarriages in the last 18 months, which doctors say were age related. Now I’m stuck in the living hell of waiting for the bleeding to start. I have a 3 year old, so I know my body can do it. I don’t feel like I want to tell anyone, as they’d just worry, and can’t change the inevitable. Any helpful words of advice? X

Hello and Congratulations to you :)

I was in a similar position, age 44 and had a miscarriage in April last year, and the suggestion was age related too.

Now 31 weeks pregnant, all seems great but I didn't tell anyone until after the 20 week scan and still have days now where I feel anxious, think the baby hasn't moved as much as the day before....its some journey!!

I got through the first few months a day at a time to be honest and trying not to think too far ahead and staying of Google...but it dragged by soooo slowly.

Wishing you all the best.

Congratulations and don’t presume it will fail. I’m 42 very soon myself and currently 16 weeks. That’s after miscarriages. Best thing I heard was presume it’s all ok until you know otherwise. Fully aware it’s easier to say than do but telling myself that frequently too!

Congratulations. Take care of yourself, lots of good food, good company and rest.
Try to be cautiously optimistic, there's not much else you can do. Wishing you the best.

Good luck op.

Thank you for your replies. I am feeling very negative and low - which is not like me at all! I’m not quite 5 weeks yet, but am already feeling very nauseous, which I’m oddly enjoying as it means hormones must be racing. Thanks again for your supportive words. This is my first post and I was quite nervous. X

I had my 6 month old daughter at 40 and am hoping I'll be able to have another before I'm 43. During pregnancy my age wasn't mentioned once by medical professionals. Fingers crossed everything works out for you.
