Second child - when did you start buying??

27 weeks pregnant today and haven't really bought much yet. I have a crib, cot and buggy from my first child but still need to get new mattresses, bedding, monitor, clothing and all the rest. But for some reason I'm not panicked by it and know that in another couple of weeks I'll just go and pick up everything I need. Dm thinks I'm crazy and says she'd be panicking if she was me. I admit I should have a hospital bag ready and will do that this weekend, but is anyone else with me on being slower to buy everything second time round?

When should I start buying for my first?! 27 weeks and we have the pram... and a cuddly panda toy Grin

It's not just me then Grin
We must be due the same week then Smile.
I think we still have plenty of time to get organised!

There's just so much to research and choose and decide and buy I think I've just given up for a few weeks! If you've got any recommendations I'd love to hear it!
My mum's just decorated the nursery for us, we've gone tropical

21 weeks with dc2 and haven't even thought about buying anything yet 🙈 like you, I have some stuff from dc1 but haven't even thought about getting anything else yet. I guess I'll just get stuff as the due date nears and I start panicking lol.

I’m 33+6 with DC2. Have not bought a single thing or done anything to prepare for this baby. I feel like I should at some point...

Tropical theme for a nursery sounds lovely Smile. The only things I know I definitely want to buy again this time are the Angelcare monitor, the nappy bin and the mirror for the car. The mirror was prob the best (and cheapest) thing we bought. Meant while he was new born and facing rearward in the car seat, we could still see him from the front of the car x

I think I brought the bits I needed for DC2 at 32/33 weeks and that’s only because I had an issue and my consultant said the baby might need to be out anytime from the next day! So I panic brought stuff! Baby is still in there and I’m 35+6 now. It’s actually quite nice though as I know I have everything sorted so can just chill now (we’ll chill and run after a toddler and clean the house!!).

I think this is pretty normal, I think you panic with the first and for the second you know what you need and what you will use in the first few weeks and everything else can wait. With internet shopping and next day delivery I don’t see the need to worry if something is forgotten

Jackshouse · 15/03/2019 18:23

I have been slowly buying the few bits I need from 12 weeks but that’s only because I am buying them second hand so I’m getting them as they appear on Facebook selling page.

Me and DH have agreed to go out between 30-32 weeks and just buy everything, otherwise it just clutters up the house and gets bloody dusty! 😂
