Can anyone help me? Is this a miscarriage?

Last night I started getting really painful abdominal cramps that were also in my lower back, I went for a wee and when I wiped there was a light pink discharge, I went to bed thinking the worst was happening and when I woke this morning I wiped and it was light brown discharge and this has been happening all day and I assumed I must be miscarrying, I've even got some mild cramping going on. I just went for a wee and the discharge is white and watery like it has been since I found out I'm pregnant. I had an internal scan yesterday could that of caused the cramps and explained the brown discharge or does it sound like I am having a miscarriage? I've never had one so I'm clueless and google is really really clear. Thanks

I'm not an expert on this, but my understanding is that mild cramps and light pink discharge can be common in early pregnancy and is doesn't mean you're having a miscarriage. Can you call your doctors/midwife for advice or an appointment?

Unfortunately it’s impossible to say as it can be common in early pregnancy but also it could be the start of a miscarriage. An internal scan can cause pink discharge in some.

How many weeks are you? What did the scan say?

Merrydoula · 07/03/2019 21:12

I spotted brown all the way upto 13 weeks, don't think the worst just yet, as a general rule the midwife told me bright red bleeding and a period like flow is more a cause for concern

Sorry meant to say google is not clear.

I'm 6+1 and the scan showed the amniotic sac and yolk sac but no heartbeat was detected, they've made me an appointment to go back next Friday to be re-scanned.

At 6+1 it’s not unusual for there to be no heart beat. Can I ask why you had an early scan? Was there as problem or was it private reassurance scan?

@Jackshouse I'd been having some pain on my left side so they wanted to rule out an eptopic.

The waiting to find out is tough. Try to take each day as it comes and not look too far ahead.

sheskilledmyplant · 07/03/2019 21:38

It's going to be such a long wait. It's the guessing that is driving me craz.

I know. I’ve been there and done it. This Christmas I had to wait 3 weeks to find out if my twin 2 was was going to continue. You will get through it.

Thank you @Jackshouse for you kind words.

When I've previously had an internal scan, they warned me that it's not unusual to have mild cramps and light spotting afterwards

Just to say I had a small bleed (much like you describe) at 8 weeks pregnant and DS is now 16 months so not all bleeds result in a sad outcome. Best of luck for next Friday x
