37 weeks - period type pain?

Hi, I’m 37+2 today, first pregnancy! So not sure what’s normal at this stage.
Since yesterday morning I’ve had on/off period type pains low down in my groin area and also in my back. Sharp twinges on and off throughout the day. There’s no particular pattern to it and I’m having no tightenings or anything like that. I haven’t had any other labour signs, I can definitely feel that his head is very low down compared to what it was and I’ve developed the waddle when I walk. I’m seeing my midwife Monday morning so I’ll be speaking to her then but does this sound like it could be very early signs of labour or could these period like twinges go on for days/weeks?! Thanks x

Could be braxton hicks but could also be the start of labour. Try and time it.

Sorry that wasn't very helpful.

If it were me I'd probably get checked out before Monday to see if I was starting labour or not. Labour pains can vary and aren't always a tightening feeling. My bf said her pains were just sharp.

Oh hang on what day is it?! God I'm an idiot 😂

I probably wouldn't rush to be seen actually unless the pain got worse and closer together.

Period type pain is how I would describe early labour, but it could also be Braxton Hicks. I would mention it on Monday but wouldn't try and see someone over the weekend unless they got worse or something else changed :)

Thanks everyone. It’s settled down a lot over the last couple of hours. Will keep an eye on it xx

I had exactly the same at 37 +5, gave birth 2 days later. Keep an eye and obviously speak with midwife on monday. Just to be warned, my contractions were not regular until my waters went at 11.30pm - i went to the hospital and was 8cm! lol

Mine. Went on for 4 weeks like that before I gave birth at 39+4

I now have the same going on for four days at 40+1....

Only time will tell when things really get going!
