Im getting weekly scans due to reduced movement as i have a anterior placenta i mentioned today during scan that my 2nd sons placenta was frayed and was only 5.4lbs at 39 weeks ... i mentioned movements have been really reduced over past 2 days and since last week I've lost over half my fluid from 14cm to 6.5cm.

Her head growth has also dropped but her stomach measuring well above 3rd line I'm due to see consultant next week to talk about birth options made by midwifes. Do you think i should push to be induced quicker due to loosing fluid reduced movements and growth not following lines

I've got 5.2 cm of fluid (38 weeks) and consultant said this was measuring very healthy! Can't see where there would be room for a 14cm fluid well!!!

I'm going to be having my next scan (not following growth lines) on Friday and I'm going to follow medical advice re induction. Babies come when they're ready, by and large. So if they say she needs to come out, she comes out! If they say she's happy to stay in, I'm going to bide my time!

Strangers and on the internet can't know all the ins and outs - follow what the medics say about (what sounds like) quite a complicated situation.

She just said i need to be monitored closely until consultant on Wednesday so will wait and see what they suggest ... just there panicking me now saying her weight is dropping but stomach is measuring large and then with this fluid thing ontop of reduced movement ... I'm scared incase i miss something and they don't pick up on it leave her too long etc i know this sounds stupid but my hospital is closed to babies after 5pm they are understaffed and alot of problems are being missed with babies due to this.

Hi violet, sorry you are having this worry. Waiting for appointments feels like an age when you are worried.

Would you be able to call the maternity unit and ask them to explain it in more detail to you? If they are worried then hopefully they would have pushed for you to be seen quicker.

Alternatively, could you book a private scan over the weekend for a second opinion?

Aha!! I've just looked at the fluid levels thing, as it was bugging me!!

There are two different ways of measuring it. The first is by measuring the deepest well (5.2cm in my case, 6.5cm in your case). Normal range is 2-8 cm.

The second way (amniotic fluid index) measures the sum of the four deepest pockets. Normal range is 5-25cm.

So looks like your levels are fine!! Comparing the two measurements is like comparing apples to oranges and not terribly helpful!!! So try not to worry about that one particular aspect. It's normal for levels to decline 37-42 weeks by a bit as well...
