Anyone here with Hydradentis Supperativa

Just intrigued to know if any mums to be here have this skin condition? I was diagnosed around 2 years ago after a succession of painful, swollen abscess like bumps in and around my groin and thighs.
Its calmed down the last year or so but I feel like it's starting to flare up again and I'm around 9wks now.
Will speak to midwife next week about it but just wondered if anyone else here had experience of if generally or during pregnancy?

I'm 17 weeks and all I can say is it should calm down after the first trimester. So many hormones, which then spike at 13 weeks I'm told!

Also steroid cream has become my best friend during flares, ask your gp about it.

Have you been referred to a specialist service? Took me about 3 years but it was the best thing my doctor has ever done for me

It is nice to know you're not alone when suffering from HS!
Yeah I attend dermatology for it and will be seeing them again in April, they had wanted to put me on long term antibiotics etc but didn't as I was TTC.
I'm just hoping the current flare up doesn't worsen as in the past I've ended up on antibiotics and having to see the nurse to get the site dressed etc. The thought of any kind of infection or inflammation during the pregnancy scares me!
I'm surprised I dont know more people who suffer from HS as the day my derm told me, she said she diagnosed around 10 people a day with the condition, all like me who just assumed it was ingrown hair or something else.

My doctor said that I could be on Erithromycin when TTC and am continuing through pregnancy. Also can come in liquid form if necessary (I had terrible nausea so couldn't take tabs)

Trouble with HS is it's horribly underfunded and not very well known about even by GPs.
Also I read somewhere that - understandably! - people are so embarrassed by the condition they never get officially diagnosed.

Yeah to be fair they did suggest erythromycin to me but the one time I took it previously it made me violently I'll with the worst stomach pain too so it's on the banned list for me along with penicillin which I'm allergic to. I've been given short courses of clarithromycin and doxycycline when flare ups have been bad.
I've got a little lump at the moment that I'm keeping an eye on, hoping it just settles down and doesn't flare up but I see the midwife on Tuesday so hoping it's something I'll maybe be able to raise with her for some guidance incase it does kick off during the pregnancy 🤞

Oh no, sorry to hear you've got a little lump forming. Maybe you could try a warm teabag or hot compress to encourage drainage before it builds up under the skin?

My midwives aren't all that clued up on HS but are trying to be helpful, I hope your midwife can offer a good solution on Tuesday.

I've got a continuous hole in my left armpit where it was not packed properly after I&D, the smell during pregnancy is awful!

I have taken to eating a spoon of Manuka honey daily, and applying medical-grade Manuka honey under a dressing when needed.

It is also amazing warmed up and used with a hot compress to encourage draining, as immediately once it drains the wound is covered with the honey which has really good anti inflammatory and anti bacterial properties. Your GP can prescribe Manuka dressings for you, though they are so sticky I prefer to just buy a tube of the stuff and make my own with gauze.

Also a daily yakult or actimel not only helps with taking antibiotics but also really good for pregnant ladies!
