Breech Baby - ECV or not?

I've been told today baby is breech.

Booked in for a rescan and if baby still breech then they want to attempt ECV. Anyone got any experience of this?
My consultant said they just 'cup the babies head gently, hold the feet and push slightly', but when I've been reading up, there's something about injecting something first and that I can be painful / dangerous?

If I don't have ECV - are there any dangers in baby remaining breech until c section?

I found out dd was breech about 10 minutes before we were due to be induced, at 38 weeks and 3 days! The consultant said I could either have ecv or an elective c section.

Without hesitation I asked for the c section. It was booked for the following Monday and went off without a problem. Great recovery and no stress.

I had an ECV for my first. It was ok. The doctor pushed the baby's head and feet and he turned round. It felt a bit weird but didnt hurt me or the baby. I don't remember any injections but the heart beat was monitored for the duration.

However, in the end I had a EMCS because DS was in distress and my labour had failed to progress after 24 hrs. It was a difficult operarion and they ended up doing a T cut. This meant it was dangerous for me to labour again. I wished I'd gone for an elective CS to be honest!
